  • Apple falls to 36th place on Glassdoor's annual Best Places to Work chart

Give Sog35 a break, he is doing well, adding to the conversation, moderating tone.  :)

  • Apple falls to 36th place on Glassdoor's annual Best Places to Work chart

When I read the article, the first thing that stood out was the difference in work force between Apple and all others mentioned in the tech world. Apple has a large employee contingent of retail sales based and similar support staff. While the other tech companies mentioned, have products and services which do not depend on sales through a branded retail outlets as Apple does. I

therefore the ratio of retail to corporate employees is biased and skewed against Apple in this particular measurement.

if corporate to corporate ratings were exclusively measured, ex retail, I submit, Apple would rate significantly higher.

another interesting indicator of the state of affairs as relates to Apple employees would be a study/questionnaire/research into how Apple retail employees are rated compared to other retail sales force. Apple would rate quite well on that basis also.

    You're pretty funny.
I am glad you find us (Liberals) funny
The OP ( @bells ) says that applying labels to people is a sign of low intelligence:
"Labeling something as  liberal is intellicually (sic) lazy. It's akin to name calling. Further, the whole techinique is designed just to descredit somebody without having to even listen to a person. Perhaps you are so intellucutually inferior that you have to resort to labels because you can't express ideas without doing so?"

Then you paste a label on yourself. I would assume then you don't agree with @bells either even tho you jumped in to support his/her opinion? Just noting the apparent disconnect.

Personally I don't care what someone wants to label themselves as, or if they even do. Tags are useful on the grocery shelf, not so much in human interactions. Motion matter more than thoughts and we have too little movement on the things that purportedly are so concerning to us. Get up and move more folks if it's really so important to you that something changes!

Your point is well taken. I am proud to call a 'liberal' thinker as opposed to an illiberal person. Sure apple[ ] wanted to ding me for expressing that bias. I welcome it. It doesn't have the negative connotations in my mind, that others place on the term. My thought process and the positions I take on any topic are informed by my ability to understand the issue, problem or someone's point of view. My 'liberal' bias serve as a tool to better understand the 'other' point of view. That helps me to be tolerant, reminds me I don't have a corner on the truth and inspires me to bring forth evidence and reasoning to refute closed minded opinions. That works for me.

I know that in many ways in many aspects of my thinking and living are rightly described as moderate and conservative. True with all people.

Labeling me as something or the other doesn't effect me.

I never got the feeling he was all that successful in his prognostication. But, he carried himself well and best of luck in his new pursuit.

woe... you think Apple's 3+ year old computers are "best in class by a wide margin"... Man, you really need to see what's out there.

You also think they are making sensible choices?  What choices?  ignore everything except the iPhone.   Yah... for short term profits that's the way to go, but long term, there will be nothing left to fall back on.  I find it ironic that those who are okay with how things are being run are the ones that harming Apple the most.  If you want Apple to be around after the iPhone boom is over (and it will, just like Nokia, Motorola, RIM. Palm), you should be on Tim's case to do better (ie, New product categories, keeping ALL products they sell competitively updated)
    Great Post, very true.

on the other hand, the pressure is obvious on all top level manager. It is all around them, as relates to growth and innovation. Undeniable.

So with that said, seems appropriate to assume they feel the heat, they are taking steps to rectify any weaknesses and accentuate the quality in the program.

    We are all that megaphone!
