  • US paid Apple at least $600M on foreign cash held as bonds since 2012

Apple is a good corporate citizen of the United States. And a good corporate citizen to the planet as well.  Not by accident, their financial leaders are the cream of the crop when you consider how they leverage Apple.

once again A+ management by Cook and Company.

    not perfect of course!

  • Apple 'iPhone 7s' rumored to retain iPhone 7 design, debut without wireless charging

By the way, I love the iPhone 7s that I have, many improvements, added tech and style, over the 6 I had previously. The new camera is wonderful. I gave my digital camera, lenses and the works to a friend. For my use I don't need more. True with many, I would guess. To say this phone is not dramatically better is just to not realize, exterior design change is an area where subtle changes need to predominate. It is the 'guts of the phone, HW/SW where Apple consistently  excels. Once again, Apple cannot always design around the limitations that their suppliers provide them. They do the best by far, on most reasonable scales.

  • Invite-only meeting details state of AI, machine learning research inside Apple's halls

Product events perform a different task, as do Mr. Cooks references to what you describe as 'social crusades'. All a part of a complete package, promoting Apple, conservation and and moving the needle a little more into the righteous column. How do you find fault with that?

  • Apple Pay now accepted at 35% of US merchants, coming to Gap and more in 2017

That is impressive. I live on the coast of Oregon, in a town of ony 2000. It was slim Pickens finding establishments in our little county accepting Apple Pay for the first year. Rite Aide was about it. Now, however, businesses throughout the area, large and small are on line with Apple Pay, even out here. Thanks Apple, well done. At 35% coverage, ubiquity may soon be in the cards.

  • Trump says SoftBank to invest $50B in US, hopes to create 50,000 jobs

    Dick applebaum,
    you are so right.

The Post Office contract is the stickler in my estimation. I am good with OUR new President-Elect. He won, he is ours to keep for the interim.  But, Without his good intention, to follow the Constitution regarding Emoulents clause, and given the wording specifically of the GSA DC Post Office contract, he will not have attained that minimum bar. A blind trust will not fulfill that particular legal responsibility. On the other hand, by following that legal guidance properly he will have gained a great deal of respect even from the majority who did not vote for him. I am rooting for President-Elect Trump, I am for this Country.
