  • Analyst demands $250 Apple Watch -- but there already is one

    Thanks for the chuckle.

This made me wonder about which watch Apple will keep around as the budget option once the 6 is released. Do they bring back the 4? Stick with the 3, which will be 3 years old by that time. Or will it be the 5?
Even though it seems weird to bring back the Series 4 after it was pulled, that seems most likely to me. I can't imagine Apple making the Series 5 the 'affordable' option like the Series 3 was, especially with the extra cost of the display.

  • A4 to A5: How Apple outflanked its fragmented competition in silicon

    Abalos65 said:
What does this "feature" (it's an editorial, let's be honest) say on how Apple got to make better silicon? All I see in this editorial is that Apple was the best from the start (from A5 on) and just made better performing silicon the whole time. How is that an explanation of the title?  How is it that Qualcomm is not even mentioned in an editorial comparing the competition in silicon in the mobile space? I have learned nothing; except the vapid throwing around of the notion that Apple is focused and Samsung is not. As if that is all that is needed to design the best silicon in the business. What a joke.

They were always better and sell more. I previous mentioned that this is always the argument of an DED editorial; Apple is better because they sell more. And if this is not the case; Apple is better because they make more profit. Oh and don't forget to be really mad at journalist with a different perspective/opinion. It doesn't seem vindictive at all. Throw in that Samsung copies and Google sell all your data and I think I have summarized all the editorials of DED quiet well. Oh, almost forgot; HOMEPOD IS DOING FINE!

Please keep labeling DED editorials as editorials, it makes it easier to skip the drivel.

You might be referring to a different argument with your "All I see in this editorial is that Apple was the best from the start (from A5 on)" comment, but there was a separate feature from DED on Wednesday all about Apple's rise from playing a part with ARM back in the Newton days to releasing the A4. If you're curious about how the foundation was laid leading up to A4 and A5, I'd recommend that article if you have a solid 45 minutes or so to read it as it probably fixes the lack of detail you're ridiculing.

I typically regard DED features as well researched articles that include a decent dose of Apple-bias - which helps counter the opposite viewpoint coming from every other tech source nowadays.

  • Apple Arcade is here, play over 100 exclusive titles for $4.99 a month

After 3 minutes I finally figured out why I couldn't see Apple Arcade anywhere. My iOS wasn't updated to v13. My current version of iOS, presumably v12, didn't tell me an update was due, even when I went to the App Store to look for updates. In fact even when I went to the General tab of my Settings app, where it usually warns me about updates, there was nothing indicating an update was available. But by pushing through the menus I was able to find the update. Anything that takes me 5 minutes to figure out doesn't pass my "mom and pop test."

Anyone on these forums will know that iOS 13 is brand new, but I can assure you there are millions of people out there who don't follow Apple News like we do and won't be able to figure this out. Apple needs to start pushing iOS13.

On another issue, when will Apple Arcade be available for macOS? The article talks about every platform except this one.
Apple typically does phased releases so that not everyone is hitting their servers to update at the same time.

  • iPhone 11 Pro & iPhone 11 Pro Max -- Hands on and first impressions

    Yawn
I need a better phone, not a computer, not a tracker
better battery , rugged , not burdened by complications that drift attention far from the tasks at hand
    Privacy
without "features" that only add complexity.
    Get the core solid
    it ain't
I don't walk around staring into my hand , like Narcissus into the pond.
Go back to the Design philosophy you abandoned years ago.
You are high on your own gas

Curious what in your opinion is needed for a better "phone." I can't think of many improvements that are left for phone functionality, but I could missing your point.
