  • Apple Arcade is here, play over 100 exclusive titles for $4.99 a month

After 3 minutes I finally figured out why I couldn't see Apple Arcade anywhere. My iOS wasn't updated to v13. My current version of iOS, presumably v12, didn't tell me an update was due, even when I went to the App Store to look for updates. In fact even when I went to the General tab of my Settings app, where it usually warns me about updates, there was nothing indicating an update was available. But by pushing through the menus I was able to find the update. Anything that takes me 5 minutes to figure out doesn't pass my "mom and pop test."

Anyone on these forums will know that iOS 13 is brand new, but I can assure you there are millions of people out there who don't follow Apple News like we do and won't be able to figure this out. Apple needs to start pushing iOS13.

On another issue, when will Apple Arcade be available for macOS? The article talks about every platform except this one.
Apple typically does phased releases so that not everyone is hitting their servers to update at the same time.

  • iPhone 11 Pro & iPhone 11 Pro Max -- Hands on and first impressions

    Yawn
I need a better phone, not a computer, not a tracker
better battery , rugged , not burdened by complications that drift attention far from the tasks at hand
    Privacy
without "features" that only add complexity.
    Get the core solid
    it ain't
I don't walk around staring into my hand , like Narcissus into the pond.
Go back to the Design philosophy you abandoned years ago.
You are high on your own gas

Curious what in your opinion is needed for a better "phone." I can't think of many improvements that are left for phone functionality, but I could missing your point.

  • Google reveals Pixel 3a and 3a XL smartphones, Nest Hub Max with added camera

Google Home Hub - so, it's like an iPad? But on a stand?
No sir, in both intent and design.

(Some of this quoted) The Nest Hub Max can act as an indoor security camera that streams a live feed of your home to your phone. With a camera now included the Nest Hub Max can recognize your face when you arrive home and will bring up a personalized home page, such as calendar notifications or your own photos for the background slideshow. The feature is called Face Match which Google says the device processes locally and does not upload to the cloud. You can also use it for video calls ala' Alexa....

    So...like an iPad.

  • Google is downplaying Android to focus its future on Chrome OS

Putting the litigation issue with Oracle to the side, there's nothing preventing Google from developing a new OS from the ground up and then implementing something like what Apple did with Rosetta to allow old apps built on Java to continue to run on this new OS until they can get developers to move over to whatever new language they are using. I would assume they've been working on something like this for years now to address many of the issues DED brings up in this article. If they could do that it seems like it wouldn't take much to continue to dominate the non-Apple mobile device market. I guess the question is would something like that still fall under the scope of the intellectual property lawsuits from Oracle?
