  • Apple releases second public iOS 13 and iPadOS betas, new beta versions for developers

I reported many problems with Version 1 and I am pleased to report they all seem to have been rectified in Version 2.

  • High-end users on 'Why I'm buying the new Mac Pro'

I am not a high-end professional user though I have a MacBook Pro for home use.  I do not feel the price of the new Mac Pro is disproportionately expensive, by comparison, and the same goes for the new monitor and stand.  The stand, which has been criticised for its price, is obviously a complex piece of engineering and the usual fantastic design so again, whilst it is a lot of money, per se, does not seem as excessive as is being stated.

  • Apple's March Event: a big new move into subscription software

The other advantage with Apple products is that they work extremely well and integrate properly.  Anything bought on one device is immediately picked up by the others.  The hardware also comes with a massive suite of software, some obvious and some not so buying a Mac, for example, is not much more expensive than buying a Microsoft based machine and, say, Office. Apple software is also much more intuitive than MS software and the whole package goes wrong far less often and requires less frequent upgrades.  I think if you do the maths, Apple products will cost less over time and give you far less stress and downtime in the meantime.

  • Apple's video service expected to launch at $15 per month, still needs healthy iPhone sale...

I don’t think Apple is doomed any more than any other company its size.  It has a wide range of products and services which are increasingly in demand.  Apple will continue to innovate and the rest will continue to copy. It would be great if Apple streams all the films in its library and does not follow the Netflix and Prime services which provide a couple of top films a month and a lot of make-weight titles.  Added to that should be top television programmes and series from around the world all of which would make a brilliant service which would trounce the current providers.  I’d pay for that, whereas I use my daughters’ subscriptions currently as I don’t find Netflix, Prime and Now TV to be worth the monthly subscription.

  • The secret of Apple's success in selling premium tech as an affordable luxury

It is very simple, really. Apple produces  beautiful looking products which work extremely well. They all operate with all other Apple products seamlessly. They are far higher specifications than any of the competition.
