    Except we all use a different 5%. I wrote my thesis in word taking full advantage of figure/caption links, auto table of contents, indexing, styles, references, etc... I use Excel daily for data analysis. It really is a fantastic piece of productivity software with a reasonable price.

  • Spotify loses $23.6 million in Q3, misses total user targets

    Had Spotify premium for my daughter, canceled it last month and switched to YouTube Premium - music and ad-free youtube for about the same price. Got charged again this month for Spotify. Turns out you have to hit cancel on 5 different pages to cancel Spotify. They are worse than a timeshare company. They are scum, will never go back for any reason.

    IBM got out of the PC business 16 years ago. Windows 10 is actually quite usable. I don't use any anti-virus software except for the built-in Windows Defender.

    You must love Microsoft a lot to browse the internet and install appslications utilities etc from the internet using only Defender.
    For the rest of the world reading this thread, that is bad advice.  You are taking demonstrably and quantifiably taking a significant risk relying on Defender only. 
    From PC Magazine:
    “We used to say Windows Defender is better than nothing. At present, we’re willing to say it’s pretty darn good. Some of its lab test scores are excellent now, though it took a while to reach this point. […] It earned a great score in our hands-on malware protection test but didn’t do so well at detecting phishing frauds.”

    I only download/install legitimate software and use common sense when on the web. I've tried other anti-virus products in the past, some have been ok, some have caused software conflicts that took quite a while to figure out. How many times have you been legitimately alerted to a virus on your computer? And, if you have, how did it get there?

    If you want to stay totally secure, I guess you would never use the internet. I've never heard of YouTube being a threat. I find it to be a fantastic instructional resource; I've probably learned more useful stuff on YouTube than in college. That's too bad for your company.

    If it's noticeable, then it is too much. I remember getting a new LCD in the early days and it had one bad pixel (representing less than 0.0001% of all the pixels). It drove me nuts from day one so I exchanged it for one without a dead pixel.
