I’m not sure why Apple or anyone else is donating to rebuild Notre Dame. The cathedral, along with 70 other churches are all owned by the French state. So these donations are simply reducing the bill the French government will have to pay to repair it.
Because France is more or less incapable of doing anything on their own, including defending themselves.

They might as well have launched an Apple Cart. It would be equally unavailable and useless for the majority of Apple users.

Is this a local US event?
This is actually useful for the majority of Apple users. You really need to give reasons. Just saying what you did says nothing.
What is it about only being available in the US you don't understand? The majority of Apple customers are NOT in the us...
ElCapitan is correct. The vast majority of Apple users do not reside in the USA. Apple’s number one market has been PR China for several years. Add them to the rest of the world and the USA market is a minority.
Users, perhaps, but Apple gets most of its revenue from the US, China is 3rd after Europe.

  • Examining Angela Ahrendts' five-year tenure as head of Apple Retail

    Retail + People

    Or, in Tim's words:

    Refrigerator + Toaster

I see retail strike three in the not too distant future.

  • Apple retail chief Angela Ahrendts to depart in April, hands mantle to Deirdre O'Brien

Putting the head of HR in charge of retail seems like another dumb idea. I've never met a smart HR person (only idiots go into HR as they can't do anything else). They're so dumb they think they're smart by asking interview questions like what animal you would be if you could be any animal. For anything semi-complicated, they always seek outside counsel as they can't make any decisions on their own. Bad move, Tim.

It is impressive that Apple stores, especially the flagship stores, have become tourist attractions. Whenever I travel I make it a point to visit one. In many instances they have repurposed old historic buildings incorporating historic elements with modern design. Grand Central Station, SoHo, Miami, Chicago, San Francisco, Waikiki, all unique in their own way yet the same Apple “feel”. Waiting for the 3rd iteration of Apple Fifth Ave NY to open. The stores provide a great opportunity to relax, people watch, take a class and learn something new about my devices and buy an accessory/product. Everytime I ask Siri via HomePod to turn on my lights or adjust the heat I rember my visit to Apple Park where I bought the HomePod. First discovered Voice Memos in a class at the Waikiki store and my hot pink watch band from Miami.
I've been to many Apple stores in the Bay Area and the last thing I can do in them is relax. They've always been a hectic chaotic place that I avoid unless necessary.
