  • Apple's Trent Reznor says YouTube built on stolen content, pushes Apple Music

"It is built on the backs of free, stolen content and that's how they got that big," Reznor said.
Although they probably got big this way, I don't believe it's the way YouTube is big today. I think YouTube's response is legit.
YouTube is an open platform, where the content creators can do as they please.
You wanna go all free content? You got it.
You wanna upload something right now, and have it ready for distribution right now? You got it.
You wanna stream content live, right now? You got it. No questions asked ;-)
You wanna preroll long ads before your content, in hope of striking gold by monetizing shit? You got it.
You wanna make a paid subscription channel? You got it (is it in beta?).
You wanna keep everything free, and let core fans donate through Patreon? You got it.

Apple music is great, and if they offered a similar approach to both music and video I'd be thinking about changing platforms to Apple. But right now it's just a music streaming service. It's great, but it's not an alternative to YouTube.

  • Apple brings coding to the iPad with Swift Playground

Nice. I actually exclaimed "yes!" Out loud to myself.. Ha ha.
On a side note... is she possibly the coolest official apple employee to date?

And by by the way, that was absolutely no pun intended. "To date" as in, "so far". I thought she was really cool. But someone obviously disagrees with me strongly, it seems.

  • iOS 10 Messages gain rich links, 3X bigger emojis, bubble effects & third-party app integration

The big question now is how the heck do I protect myself from those terrifying full screen effects?? I hope I can turn on and off stuff at the receiving end. Shrug.
    Other than that, mostly nice.

  • Rumor: Apple to debut iMessage for Android at WWDC 2016

iMessage on other garbage wouldn’t sell Apple hardware, just like Apple Music (or whatever it is... beats? Doesn’t Apple make something for Android still?) doesn’t. It’s a terrible idea.
Messages on Android, I feel, is interesting for both iOS users and Android users. Chances are that many Android users have friends on iOS, and the other way around. I agree it's probably not designed to sell iPhones, but rather to make communication between the two systems more consistent. If it's gonna go all out with the included map/ find my friend/ broadcast my position stuff as well remains to be seen ;-)

I don't know much about Android security, but since it's supposedly so open, perhaps developers has the right to patch the existing built in messanging solution? Then it could be made to handle iMessages as well? Bad idea probably.. too many versions to patch..

  • Apple Music launches fashion channel curated by designer Alexander Wang

I think the currated playlists on Apple Music are high class. This one, not my taste. But that's the thing with currated playlists - to create different lists for different people. There are so many lists there, currated by DJ's, music lovers. I think this is what makes Apple Music so much better than the competition. This is serious stuff. I'm sure there are some glossy fashion lovers out there who will apprecite this too. Why wouldn't there be?
