  • Easter egg image uncovered in Power Mac G3 ROM after 27 years

I remember when an easter egg was discovered in the CDROMs shipped with my brand new PowerMac 8100/80. There was a pic of Paula Abdul in a swimsuit on the disc, Apple management was outraged. Shipments were halted while new CDROMs were mastered and produced, every boxed machine was unpacked, the CDs replaced, and then shipped. I got my 8100/80 six months after I ordered it, and the model was discontinued one month later. Grrr..

  • 'F1' is Apple's biggest hit with $55M+ opening weekend

I had to laugh at the "controversy" about the Wallet Ad. Gruber said your real wallet is sacrosanct and he never sees advertising in his wallet. He obviously never looked. I examined one credit card in my wallet, it displays four corporate logos advertising their companies. Some cards are one big advertisement. Even the minimalist titanium Apple Card has three logos on it. I have a receipt in my wallet, oh no it has advertising printed on the back! [facepalm]

  • Nearly one million 'Fortnite' users getting FTC refunds for unauthorized charges

This is the reason the Apple app store exists: to restrain greedy and fraudulent software developers.

  • Billion dollar battle: Picking an App Store fight with Apple cost Epic Games greatly

I hate these "hypothetically we lost $1B" stories. Nobody ever guaranteed you a revenue stream.

  • SanDisk Extreme Pro with USB 4 review: Good for Mac, avoid for Windows

Even OWC has some nice external SSDs these days.
Yeah they have always been Mac oriented, I have a cabinet full of old OWC drives including Firewire-only dual drive cabinets. I have a new 1M2 which is a USB4 enclosure, powered through the USB bus, just like any miniature drive. It's kind of large to use as a portable drive, but it's mostly cooling fins on the aluminum case. I just checked, It's on sale today for $99, install your own M.2 SSD, it takes like 30 seconds. I put a 4Tb Teamgroup SSD inside (way too fast for USB4) and it's blazing fast, you could do that today for $350.
