  • 5G 'iPhone 12 Pro' could have 120Hz ProMotion display

"one of the lenses may also receive a tweak. The telephoto lens may have an increased magnification"

I would also ask if the wide angle could be improved, as technically challenging (or even impossible) as that may be...
On a positive I found barrel distortion remarkably well corrected for such a wide view, yet could the peripheral sharpness and chromatic aberration be improved?
While not as wide or compact, is the Zeiss ExoLens (now likely working on the SE) still the one to beat for overall image quality ?

  • Apple Pro Display XDR 'game changer' for 'Jumanji' studio

...are things like 'Jumanji' really the highest and best use for all this technology...?
The last one grossed nearly $1 billion worldwide in theater tickets and the newly released one is already over $320 million, and each is costing the studios $100–$150 million to make.

That quality monitor sounds like a no brainer for editing an expensive, popular, and high grossing feature film.
...I guess, and yet does virtual everything risk becoming a new effective populist reality as the planet burns...?

  • Pro Display XDR works on iMac Pro at 5K, not 6K

That is one strange issue. The TB3 chips in the iMac Pro aren’t full Titan Ridge chips? Bandwidth limitation?
Essentially, yes. Based on teardowns, iMac Pro units uses two JHL6540 Thunderbolt 3 controllers ("products formerly Alpine Ridge"; each handles two ports), which only support DisplayPort 1.2.
So even though the base pro tower ships with a 580X one needs an entire iMac Pro upgrade to run 6K (or better 8K) simply due to the choice of a $8.55 controller in a $5,000 ~ $14,000 computer...?  We have a 2017 'pro' computer based on a 2010 TB standard ?    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DisplayPort#1.2

How and why does this happen...?

  • Teardown of 16-inch MacBook Pro reveals tough-to-repair construction

...I remember when SJ came back to Apple and the introduction of the Powerbook G3 with dual externally swappable drive/battery bays and a keyboard that could be simply lifted out from the top with the turn of a slot screw for access to internals. Then came the G4, again with externally swappable battery and easy underside access to all the internals, drive, ram, etc. via a dozen or so screws... I put an SSD in my G4 PB for legacy file access and it works well still to this day, including 'Classic' emulation - both were considered state of the art 'Pro' offerings at the time and priced accordingly, and the latter could be paired with the wonderful 30" Apple Display...
