Now she's upset because her friends are confused that "Messages" to her go to xx@verizon.net but email is to yy@gmail.com and they're all confused. And this is Apple's fault.
How is it Apple’s fault? She’ll just add yy@gmail.com to iMessage receiving addresses.

“Anyone who creates an AppleID as something other than "@icloud.com" is just asking for trouble.“

Maybe just the opposite is true. If you use @icloud.com as your AppleID you make it more guessable and prone to attacks.

I do trust Apple to validate the code the apps are trying to release onto my phone or tablet.  It all comes back to the Apple approval process ...
One trick developers could use is to submit an app with certain features disabled until a date in the future. When Apple evaluates the code it may seem legitimate but after a couple weeks the nefarious features become activated.
Do you really believe that Apple engineers are so clueless? Once you have the device and the compiled code (candidate app) at hand you can monitor everything that happens in that device. It is not possible to fool those guys about anything that happens in iOS / macOS realms. They are the owners of those realms.

  • How to fix problems with iOS 11 on your iPhone or iPad

Although recommendations are against, closing apps appears to me as releasing some memory in iOS 11. I checked this with an iPad Mini 2 in iOS 11 and found some improved responsiveness. This is an A7 device with 1 GB of RAM.

  • Apple denies it reduced accuracy of Face ID to aid iPhone X production

The statement in its entirety says:
Customer excitement for iPhone X and Face ID has been incredible, and we can't wait for customers to get their hands on it starting Friday, November 3. Face ID is a powerful and secure authentication system that's incredibly easy and intuitive to use. The quality and accuracy of Face ID haven't changed. It continues to be 1 in a million probability of a random person unlocking your iPhone with Face ID.

Bloomberg's claim that Apple has reduced the accuracy spec for Face ID is completely false and we expect Face ID to be the new gold standard for facial authentication.
The statement does not refute that testing changes have been made -- only that any changes made does not impact the accuracy of the system -- already significantly less prone to erroneous identification than Touch ID.
You "read it wrong". The statement does not refute that testing changes have been made because they don't have to refute that: The original article says nothing about "testing changes", this is just your divination. The original article says directly that "Apple has relaxed some of the specifications for Face ID" and as a result "it took less time to test completed modules." You must be very imaginative to infer some "testing changes" from that.

This a huge competitive advantage for Samsung. They literally make the only good OLED screens, and Apple seems to be pegging its future on OLED displays with the iPhone X. I expect this gives Samsung a lot of pricing power. Here's hoping that LG's phone-based OLED displays start to catch up fast.
Apple’s future is microLED, not OLED, they’ve bought a company for that. OLED (Samsung) may be just an interim solution until full Apple scale implementation of microLED. Until then LCD models may do the job, one absolutely doesn’t need an OLED iPhone just because OLED is the “future”
