Microsoft earnings reveal new Surface is no match for iPad
Having owned or currently own a Surface Pro, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iPad Pro, Mac mini, iPad Mini, etc.
Unless you just absolutely need a Windows PC you are far better off with an iPad Air or iPad Pro if you want a tablet device. iPad OS is simply more stable and the devices more powerful. They also have better resale value when you are done.
Parallels Access will allow you to run Windows app remotely on your iPad as if they were native apps on iPad OS.
With Office and many other suites of SW having migrated to cloud computing the reasons to buy any Windows PC continue to diminish. -
Next Apple Watch Activity Challenge honors Veterans Day
Apple offers a 10% discount every day to active duty, guard, reserve, retired and honorably discharged members of the armed forces.
If you scroll down to the bottom of the homepage you will see a link to the veterans and military store. It is a nice gesture that saved me $200 on my new MacBook Pro 14.
The store uses a web service called ID me to verify your eligibility.
With Veterans Day coming up I offer a shout out and thank you to my brothers and sisters who are serving and have served. -
MacBook Pro shipping delays caused by UPS 'mechanical' problems
Not a fan of Oops! (UPS).
Not sure why Apple uses them instead of FedEx and DHL. I would like it if Apple offered us a choice and it would not be Oops.
My “signature required” $2000 + laptop was left with no signature at my neighbors house and not because there was nobody home.
This is just the kind of service often seen from Oops in my area. With numbers clearly on the house in broad daylight in 70 degree sunshine they managed to not get the delivery right.
Grrr…

No, Apple is not making better products because Jony Ive left
Things HAVE gotten better since Ive left.
Form should follow function and under Ive, Apple was on a jihad to remove every port. Phil even was in videos talking about how Apple wanted to get to port free devices. We all remember the horrid trashcan “Mac Pro” as a replacement for a proper tower with internal expansion.
The new MacBook Pros show a decisive move away from that nonsense. I would much rather ports on my devices than a spaghetti bowl of breakout devices plugged into a single Thunderbolt or USB C port.
In the end a computer is a tool and fashion should not tackle precedence over function. Make it look good but do not sacrifice performance for styling.
