  • French regulator denies advertiser's plea to block Apple anti-tracking feature

How these digital stalkers think they have a right to anything belonging to others privacy is just brazen arrogance.

In my work - healthcare - we are governed under the HIPPA law and disclosure of information comes with a considerable fine and the possibility of jail time. These people steal far more sensitive information from you without your consent and then sell it to whomever they please for profit.

  • Apple discontinues full-size HomePod, to focus on HomePod mini

Glad to see that awful, overpriced thing go away.
I said day one it was going to flop and it did.

In the Apple Store it sounded like a cheap boombox and certainly not worth the asking price. Then the dust and stain magnet fishnet outer finish. Even worse, the thing os pretty much unrepairable. And out of warranty repair started at close to the asking price.

That it flopped is not a surprise, what was a surprise is who signed off on it in the first place. A simple Dot like device that could be plugged in to an existing home system that sounds many times better would have made more sense. My Focals on their worst day sound better than the HomePod could ever aspire to.

  • 'AirPods 3' not coming until fall 2021, says Ming-Chi Kuo

Would be nice if you could get them in something other than white.
Would be nicer if they had an ear loop like the Beats units.

  • Netflix tests clampdown on password sharing

I can see a few problems with basing this on IP address tracking. My Netflix account allows me to watch on two devices at the same time. Let's say I'm watching from home but my wife wants to watch while she's at work (during lunch, of course). Or perhaps I go on vacation and want to watch Netflix while falling asleep on the beach? How about students who go to college and log in via their parents' account? They are in the same family and should be able to use the same account, but the IP addresses would be vastly different. Hopefully Netflix does some pretty thorough testing before rolling this out to the masses.
Hulu currently does this kind of thing on some devices-or has in the past.
I work weekends out of town in a hospital - part of it call - and have been locked out of live streaming on my iPad Pro. Strangely enough I could log in on my MBA and watch.

  • Bipartisan senator group calls on FCC to dramatically boost broadband definition

The current definition of broadband is a joke, but I imagine some thought and discussion would be needed to benchmark the dividing line that defines broadband.

My home has a pretty demanding setup and the Comcast 200 Mbps service keeps up with multiple Apple 4K TV’s, a bunch of smart home stuff, multiple Apple watches, iPhones, iPads and Macs. The upload speed seems to stay about 12 Mbps based upon the daily tests my eero unit runs.

I really do not think residential broadband needs symmetrical data rates, but 12mbps seems a little low.
