  • Apple Watch Ultra 2 gains S9 chip, brighter screen, and new gesture

I bought the Ultra Watch last year and am trading it in for the regular Series 9

  • SOS via Satellite saves family caught out in Maui wildfires

I have the iPhone Pro 14 but opt to use Zoleo - a service that can interface with your iPhone for communications via satellite but allows more than what Apple’s service offers.
Zoleo is also not emergency contact only, for those who travel to places with little or no cell service it is a highly valuable asset to have.

  • New 15-inch MacBook Air sales are half the figure Apple expected

There is just no good reason to buy the thing. It seems an answer to a question nobody is asking.

I have an M1 Pro MacBook Pro 14 that almost always operates as a desktop in clamshell mode and the iPad Pro (M2) 12.9 is my primary mobile device. Essentially the iPad Pro is my laptop and with Face ID is very much preferred over the fingerprint reader used on the Macs.

I am sitting out the M2 cycle and will be updating the laptop with either a Mac mini or MBP when the M3 generation becomes available. Unless there is a profound difference the iPad Pro will hang around until the generation beyond that.

The technology for laptops and tablets is in its mature phase and evolution rather than revolution will be the norm.

Also, Apple needs to look very hard at the base model specs for RAM and storage as has been mentioned by others. 16 GB and 512 GB should be the new minimum - not 8 and 256.

  • How the Apple-Goldman Sachs relationship became an unhappy marriage

It seems the best outcome would be Apple setting up an independent subsidiary bank like company - not facing the public - that handled what is currently done by Goldman.

Pretty sure Apple could roll out something like that with two classes of shares - super shares held by Apple and a B class held by the public. At roll out the B shares could be distributed to Apple shareholders of record that they could then hold or sell on the open market.

The end result would be a stand alone banking type business that was apart from, but controlled by the company.

Apple certainly has the cash to be able to set up a large virtual bank and could then customize the experience to whatever level is allowed by law.

  • Spotify still dominant music streaming service in the US

Take it all with a grain of salt.
I have Amazon Prime but do not use the included music.
I have free Spotify from one of my ISP but do not use it.
I pay for Apple Music and use it.
I pay for Idagio and use it.
I get YouTube Music as a bonus to YouTube Premium and do not use it.

So how do the analytics score someone in my situation?
