  • Microsoft surpasses Apple, retakes crown of world's most valuable company

Microsoft under Nadella has followed the Jobs pattern of picking a couple of things to do and then skating to where the puck is. Apple under Cook has followed the Ballmer pattern of imitate and iterate instead of innovate. Nadella taught the elephant to tap dance and Cook took a once lean Apple and created a top heavy organization that seems unable to do anything other than design and market cell phones.

Apple is a one trick pony.

  • Class action suit accuses Apple of selling Macs without needed dust filters

Another example of Apple shooting itself in the foot by sealing their boxes shut or making it almost impossible to open the devices.

I work in Radiology and we use many different kinds of computers and do so in a carefully climate controlled environment. Despite this, we still regularly clean for dust.

Apple's stupid obsession with overly thin devices with no I/O and no easy user access is not appreciated. Batterygate would have been so much faster and simpler with an iPhone designed to have user exchanged batteries. This issue would have been a non-issue had they made the laptops and iMacs easy to keep clean. Even the 2018 Mac mini I am typing this on shows the tone deafness as the computer has to be taken apart just to add memory.

Maybe slipping below Microsoft in valuation will wake them up.

  • Tim Cook lambastes Bloomberg for iCloud spy chip report, calls for retraction

We all know Bloomberg is not going to retract the story. They are just going to dig in further since if they admit they were wrong it will go against their credibility.
What of the inverse? Would highly secretive Apple ever own up to such a thing in public.
Tim Cook responding looks like a tell.

    He didn’t have kids. Strange.
He never married. I'm sure you can figure it out.
Not every person who does not marry is gay, if that is your implication.

Can't believe this POS "patent" was even given in the first place, Good fracking god, the patent office needs to be burned to the ground.
My brother is a Patent Attorney and works for the USPTO as an examiner, and I have discussed the whole SW patent thing with him in the past and it was not an encouraging thing. Without getting into the details it sounds like a lot of stuff gets approved with minimal checking for prior art and lots of other things that should be done. Apparently this has been this way for a long time- remember, Microsoft patented the left mouse click.
