    30% was never to run the store it was a platform access fee that included hosting so they had control of a kill switch for badly behaved apps. 

    Game engines do the some thing. It is hardly new to charge for distribution of a company’s IP by third parties

    The standards all have a fallback or base level of support that Apple might want to add to a large range of devices. By moving that base to the soc they can make the current standard an upsell via standalone additional hardware that could be made by a 3rd party keen to retain some of Apples business. 

    It seems strange mmWave adoption is really poor because its use case is so limited.  It will never be part of baseline or fallback requirements. Apple could just skip it in their own hardware.

    Will be interesting if Apple drops the cellular /non cellular on iPads and adds cellular by default to other MacBooks by default using these chips then effectively use higher end modems as the cellular upsell for “pro” models..

    they should add the ability for iCloud subscribers to add their own custom weighting as an upsell to get more subscribers. Instead of avoid blanket tolls highways add fine grain avoid this toll or poor highway. Favour local coffee shops over chains. Favour particular service stations and find me the best price on the way.
