  • Sketchers lets parents hide an AirTag in kids shoes

Tracking your kids involves them keeping the shoes on. So a very unreliable method at best. At least you can track down the shoes when they come back from down the street bear foot and hungry.

  • One of these three Apple executives will probably be Tim Cook's replacement

To me Craig Federighi is the pick. Gives them a tick tock between function vs efficiency without being too far away from either.  Craig is very much the bastion of Apple culture in the current team due to his history with Next.

Gives them good scope for the CFO style positions to have the same ability to have a unique public face in order to find the next successor.

  • New AI model uses behavior data from Apple Watch for better health predictions

There’s a lot more specific information that should be shared about these 162k people. Location, ethnicity, diet, any drug use, prescription, or recreation? Smoke or drink etc.  People need to understand that Apple can only make recommendations based on the data it gets and cannot replace a diagnosis or the need for a certified medical device to monitor your health.  It’s a great motivator, and making changes to your life that you can do permanently CAN help with your health, but there’s no guarantee.
Have they ever made that claim?
I doubt it the device is about awareness of your health so you can engage with your doctor. I wonder how many people won’t be just dismissed by doctors because their device is backing them up when they feel off.

  • Apple's design team leadership in flux once again with Jeff Williams retirement

    Retirement later in the year.
So how do justify calling it turmoil when it has been planned for and the plan still has time to run.

I get you need grabby headlines and Apple to keep business as usual in a country gone mad is likely to turn some people off.

I would have thought putting the team directly under the CEO who you think is fairly busy but also sign they are supportive of the next tier of the leadership team to keep things moving along but aren’t ready to name someone as head.  Maybe they want to let a larger team shine move away from “single personality” narratives.

  • MacBook with A18 Pro first appeared in macOS 15 code

I just don’t see the point. M-series chips basically use the same cores but with features attuned to desktop computers. Maybe average users don’t care but I wouldn’t buy a MacBook with an A-series chip. That’s an iPad. Would they not be better having a “lite” M5 chip?
An M5 lite or mobile would make sense.
Maybe they could follow up OS26 alignment with M5 alignment in sizes XS, S, M, L, XL & XXL. Ultra being 2 max’s or XL’s bonded together anyway.

What makes sense between the A series is they make them in volume orders of magnitude higher than the M series at peek let alone in trailing products.
