Apple takes a three-day week for its Mac launches
9secondkox2 said:Bummer. Was expecting m4 Ultra tomorrow. So now the theory seems even more plausible. No more Mac updates until wwdc m5 intro. Likely 32” imac return. The mini will pair with current studio display. Consumer iMac will stay the same. Mac Pro with m5 ultra/extreme will have a new 8k Pro Display XDR. iMac 32” with m5 max/ultra will be 6k resolution. M5 based Notebooks will be similar to current. Would make a pretty much perfect lineup.“Mac to work week” so to speak either just before CES or just after.Or go to target market with NAB in April.Plenty of options prior to WWDC -

M4 Mac mini vs M2 Mac mini compared: Leaner and meaner
roundaboutnow said:I was hoping the height would stay under 1.75" for 1RU rack mounting. At 5" wide, I'd be able to get three in a row on a 1RU rack shelf, but now I'd need 2RU, wasting a fair amount of space...
I wonder if they can be mounted sideways, so up to 8 would fit in 3RU. (Obviously rack would have to have proper air circulation). That would be a lot of horsepower and a lot more I/O in less rack space than the 5RU Mac Pro!Yes but the old model when vertical needed 5RU so you can have same number of machines in 12RU as 15 with the old form. -

YouTuber shows off hardware hack to replace soldered MacBook storage

like an m.2 slot but no carrier board not unlike the new flat pack memory standard that is becoming common in PC land.
