Patent holding firm picks up Sony & Nokia IP, files suit against Apple
"Thus, such a fear that persons in the surroundings may be troubled by the continuous ringing of the alert sound can be remarkably reduced. Further, since the situation that a power supply is cut off forcibly during all origination can be avoided, the fear that a person on the call origination side may be given an unpleasant feeling can be eliminated."
It's literately a patent on avoid hurt feelings. Where were the political correctness gone mad people when this was issued?

Video: Rumors mount for LTE-connected Apple Watch
http://www.washington.edu/news/2017/07/05/first-battery-free-cell-phone-makes-calls-by-harvesting-ambient-power/
A phone that requires no battery at all and can cover 50ft. The developers say the biggest power drain in establishing cell signal is the analogue to digital conversions for voice which is already covered by the watch's power budget. They had it running on a solar cell the size of a grain of wheat. So in the watch it comes down to can they get this type of radio equal or better to the other radio option at various tasks.
Given these LTE cat-m systems are designed from the beginning to suit notification and intermittent type workloads I wouldn't be suprised if they are better battery wise than holding a wifi or bluetooth connection to the host device.

All the processing is done on the device (which is why the photo library on my phone is out of step with the photo library on my iPad), but if Apple doesn't want to put this data in the cloud, then what happens to all this learned stuff when I get a new iPhone? Does it have to learn it all again?
