  • 2018 iPhone may sport three-lens camera system to boost image quality

All 3 lenses on Huawei P20 have OIS. Wonder if this will be the same with the next iPhone. The P20 camera is getting really good reviews.

  • Apple nabs Google's chief of AI and search John Giannandrea to broaden Siri, self-driving ...

Anyone seen the leaked email yet?
    what leaked email?
The memo that Cook sent out which the NY Times based their story off of. Usually when Cook memos leak someone gets the entire memo,

Do not hold your breath, yet... That may be a consultant-type job as well, “reporting directly to TC...”
I don’t think a consultant to Cook would warrant a memo to Apple employees. But I think it will be telling if he’s given an SVP position or just VP like Lisa Jackson. SVP would mean Apple is really serious about building out a world class AI/ML organization. Just an example, Apple currently has around 200 open positions with Siri in the job title. Know how many Amazon has for Alexa? Over 1,000. Maybe this new Campus Cook has talked about will be an AL/ML campus and Apple will ramp up hiring in that space. I don’t think there’s really a secrecy issue there where those employees would need to be in Cupertino.

  • New $329 iPad includes support for the Apple Pencil, A10 Fusion processor

Why do get the feeling this is more exciting for the non-education sector general consumer? For education an iPad plus Pencil plus keyboard is pushing $500. What’s compelling about that? And kids can learn to code on iPad but if they want to make an app they have to use a Mac because Xcode isn’t available on iPad. And the only changes to iWork apps worthy of mentioning is Pencil support? Apple in education still seems a bit confused.
Because you don't understand the education market? I doubt every student would get an iPad that has Apple Pencil and a keyboard. You can also use the $49 pencil Apple mentioned which also works. Apple isn't pushing Xcode...they're pushing Swift. Its obvious Xcode isn't in Apple's future as far as kids go.

You also forgot the entire Apple Schoolwork suite, which is comparable to Google Classroom, Apple School Manager, etc.
Read Fraser Spiers Twitter timeline. He’s someone who’s big on iPad in education. Seriously disappointed by today’s event. I honestly don’t see this moving the needle much in education but I’m sure general consumers will love the $329 iPad with Pencil support.

The company has had "limited success" trying to pitch the iPhone X at $999
    Er … okay. 🙄
That narrative is so stupid, it's almost comical. On the last earnings call, Tim said the X was the best selling phone that quarter and proceeded to give the total # of iPhones sold. I'm trying to understand how the most expensive phone Apple has ever offered and is the best seller of all the bazillions of iphones sold could be considered a limited success.
Did they report on an ASRP in the last earnings call?
$796. $100 higher than the year ago quarter.
