I also think there's a third leg to stand on here, and one not mentioned in the story:

VisionOS.

Because building and redesigning iOS and Mac apps to support the "Living Glass" metaphor also just happens to make it much, much easier to port applications to the Vision Pro.

Is that the sole reason? Of course not. Unifying the design language across the board makes for a more coherent user experience for those within Apple's ecosystem.

But it's very much like Apple to get three, four, five, or even a dozen different benefits from a single decision.

And not to mention that Canada, the EU, and other countries pivoted away from the US to China and other markets. So they're not buying from us, either.

Are these year-to-year teams not coordinating with each other? Find a thickness and case dimensions that will work for several years and stick to it! 

Most people don't upgrade each and every year, so even if they did people on a 2-3 year cycle would still need a new case.

In the case of Walmart, apparently there are a lot of "was $19.95", "now $34.95"-style signs up all over the store.

Of course, in most of the videos I've seen, people are blaming Walmart for "price gouging".

And not placing the blame where it truly belongs.
