  • Jony Ive talks about minimalism, taste, and Apple's design group

Minimalism has its place, but the problem has been that it almost always comes with a loss of functionality. And oddly enough, an increase in complexity.

Having a single button on your phone is minimalist. Having that button perform multiple actions depending on whether or not it's pressed, long-pressed, double-tapped, or triple tapped?

    Not so much.

  • Apple's Eddy Cue is guessing that the iPhone will eventually be replaced by AI

People use phones to read, play games, watch videos, take photos and videos, and more.

Until there's a replacement for the screen, the iPhone will still be around.

And for those looking forward to implants, may I direct you to S07E01 of Black Mirror?

  • Amazon denies it had plans to be clear about consumer tariff costs

Let make a deal keep these tarrifs but eliminate all federal income taxes.      Tariffs is how the country used to make the money they ran the country on, then around 1910 they decided to start the federal income tax program to generate the money to fund the country.    So federal income tax is now a total mess with the rich and big corporations play little to no taxes and the middle class playing.    So tariffs instead of income tax sounds good to me.

So... the entire stated goal behind the tariffs is to move production here so that we no longer import goods...

Which, if it occurred, would mean no income from tariffs. (Nothing imported, nothing taxed.) So how does that work again?

Regardless, Trumpy is going to use fake tariff math to justify yet another corporate tax cut and balloon the deficit even further.

As to displaying tariff prices on the receipt. Amazon should definitely do that.

    So should Apple.

  • New TSMC 1.4nm chip is destined for the iPhone 19

Amazing how steadily TSMC advances these processes. It seemed to take Intel generations to go from one process to another.

The Trump administration tries to claim everything is an emergency or national security related. But they never like to provide any evidence of either claim.
The Trump administration asserts various "emergencies" as a justification for violating the law and the US Constitution.
Congress delegated to the executive the ability to impose tariffs (taxes) as needed during national emergencies. So Donald quite literally has to trump up "emergencies" in order to do everything that he's doing.

Congress could simply decide to take back that authority, but no one in Congress has the backbone to stand up to Trump.
