  • Arizona Senate declines to vote on App Store payments bill

There are myriad reasons to skip over the bill, before jumping into conspiracy theories of back-room deals. The real scandal is how this bill even came to be in the first place, no one is asking for this legislation, and it's clearly a case of one set of lobbyists against another. Now why would they kill it. that's straight forward:

    • The bill is controversial and would lead to unintended consequences for businesses and residents of AZ. It passed the lower house by 1 vote, and has the hallmarks of being a ploy from Epic Games.
    • There is no genuine advantage to the bill, while it opens up AZ to businesses working around the legislation. (Not even before considering retaliatory actions.)
    • It can potentially undermine or prejudice ongoing probes into app store operations.
    • As a bill it's constructed to benefit one party at the expense of another without basis.
    • The "public support" for the bill is manufactured from a vague, leading question, and took place after the bill was already introduced.

So yeah, I'm not surprised the upper house killed it. The local government gets to tick the box for whatever influence they received from Epic Games, while not having to deliver anything tangible. The point of lobbyists isn't to control the government.

  • Facebook guidelines explicitly allow calls for death of public figures

Seems deliberately designed to be as hands off and ineffective as possible - regardless of the severity of the issue.

  • English teenager suffers facial burns after iPhone charger catches fire

Not in relation to this event as I don’t know the details here.
But there are a lot of counterfeit Apple-branded chargers being casually sold in otherwise reputable looking stores. During my last trip to London I was in search of a charger and it opened my eyes to how prevalent they are - so many mobilephone stores had fake “apple” chargers (each between £5-10.)
I only found a real one in a branch of one of the leading mobile providers.

  • Intel wants to manufacture Apple Silicon

Intel should take a moment to pay attention to Apple’s snub of all things nvidia. Then they can revisit their current approach.

Being an Apple supplier gives a company massive secondary benefits. We can see that the companies that are long time partners with Apple have steadily pulled ahead of competition because they are well funded for R&D and Apple frequently gets involved more directly to ensure their success (such as massive upfront investment, direct R&D participation and defining future technology product focus/ tech pathways.)
This then allows those same companies to market their technology in other products. eg Look at the rise, fall and rise again of Sony’s digital film/photography line up. It’s now the likes of canon and nikon which can’t keep up with sensor technology.

  • Goldman Sachs cleared of Apple Card discrimination claims

A reminder that being well known or famous doesn’t make a person’s ideas correct, or give them any special legitimacy outside their field.

David Hansson could have made enquires with the bank, an independent credit bureau or even a totally different provider and come up with the correct answer to the disparity in credit limits. Instead he ran to the public with false accusations and simultaneously outted his wife’s lack of credit worthiness. Stellar move bozo.

It’s not surprising to see that his name is attached to other shaky apple slander campaigns.
