  • The new Mac mini is a great machine, but a $499 model could serve a larger audience

Apple is much too greedy these days. The price for their machines education or otherwise is insane. They also used to have special purpose Macs for education and not just cheaper versions of the same one. Witness the eMac for example. Instead of putting the $329 IPad for education in such an expensive cover and keyboard for education, why not get rid of the expensive aluminum and wrap it in plastic with a kickstand for kids? Would be cheaper for schools. I remember when Steve was on stage and he would announce the next generation of the same product he would say and it is STILL xx price but now it is more like xxx price + $200 more.

  • Apple & US carriers partner on 200GB iCloud promo ahead of new iPhones

For the user above, mathematically, you are correct, but rarely would a person even come close to using their full iCloud allowance. I'm on the free tier plan and only use 3GB. And other places are offering much more generous free and cheaper paid options than Apple too, especially considering it has been known that Apple actually uses Google for their iCloud storage. Apple is just too cheap here and offering a free 20GB would go a long way.

Why do I only use 3GB? I don't believe in storing sensitive files online (including my non-sensitive photos and videos). All of that is on SSDs.

  • 15-inch 2018 MacBook Pro compared - which upgrades are worth it?

I wish more real-world tests were used instead of this fake synthetic tests. How about copying a 4 GB file from A to B or copying 5,000 little files from A to B, or time to compile a 200 MB iOS application using Project Builder. I understand that Macs are used a lot in video editing and PS, but they are also used a lot in compiling, so knowing that these new MacBooks can compile 25% faster than before (totally made-up number) would be be beneficial to know, as well as real world file copying.

  • First look: Apple's 2018 13" MacBook Pro with Touch Bar

I always thought that Apple intentionally puts in a smaller battery in its laptops than what the chassis can actually fit. This 18% increase in size of the battery (at least in terms of watt-hours) proves my point. Sure some components could have been decreased, but there must have been some dead space in the previous iteration of the MacBook Pro line.

  • A year with MacBook Pro: reviewing Apple's 2017 pro laptop models

Also, the touchbar serves no purpose for me. One main reason why I bought the 13 inch non-touchbar model over the 15 inch or equivalent 13” with tb is because I don’t want a touchbar. Also, the touchbar model has shown to have less battery life also, on the order of 1.5 hours less.
