Retailer Target pins missed financial goals on lackluster Apple device sales
Very interesting, but Inaccurate to blame Apple instead of Target.
I was literally locked in a Target for 2+ hours following their normal closing time of 9 PM. Their systems went down at the last minute and they could not give me my merchandise because their Computer System lost the "token" sent from Visa that my charge had cleared. The Register would not print the receipt and I would not leave without my merchandise for which I had already paid. The problem was caused by Target, not Visa. I called my Card Company and they sent the electronic Token to Target. Target "lost" it and could not print the paid Ticket at the register. They Screwed up the situation all around. It was a $600 charge and I was not about to leave without the merchandise and they were into about to give it to me.
The store closed with me inside with 3 target managers and 1 Clerk. It was over a 2 hour drive home. Imagine getting Home at 5 hours later, say 2 AM because Target screwed up. I had to tell them what was wrong. Never an apology from Target Upper Management for the problem. In retrospect, I should have given them the merchandise and got them to open the door and let me out. Visa would have bounced the charge the next day.
Target does not feel that they should take responsibility for the "missed" earnings ? Well, don't be surprised if they miss again. It is too easy to blame Apple. It is no wonder Target had a date breach. They still do not have it together. The Target Store manager chewed their own IT people out, to no avail I might add. Target is in trouble; as are other retailers. Just wait and see. I should have driven 1 additional minute to Best Buy or Sam's Club. Either would have been better. Next time I will do it and I do not like BB. -
Berkshire Hathaway increases Apple position to $1.46B
Go BRK. Keep the stock please & reinvest the dividends. I only disagree with those who want to give away the farm or the benefits to those who want to beat the system by being leeches. I don't mind welfare or aid, but when they have a better car, cell phone, or free housing & utilities, they have no interest in working. I see it every day in South Georgia. Parasites that are beyond what you might even imagine. At what point do we take them off the system ? I don't see an end in sight here because the local government thinks they should grow, grow, grow and tax, tax, tax. I hope Trump or someone who is wise to this goes into office and there is some kind of freeze on government spending + an automatic reduction of an acceptable amount to cut the desire of government to grow. There is no incentive for government to shrink or for people to look for ways to get off welfare. i am tired of paying for the free ride.
If you live in a "grant city", that is what I call cities that are based upon free grants, I feel sympathy for you as well as for myself. If Hillary goes into office, I am leaving. Passport is ready.

Apple educational investment in Oakland linked to meeting between Cook, Rev. Jesse Jackson
Jessie Jackson, et. al, have hoodwinked the Black People for decades. He is a trouble maker with a Capital T. He has never done anything except seed discontent. It makes him and his "peeps" a lot of $. There are many good Black & White people. I will pay his ticket to the moon or farther.
I trust Tim Cook does not succumb to this trouble maker. I worked for a large public utility until I retired 10+ years ago. The pressure was put on to hire a more diverse work force that would mimic the same percentage make up of its customers. There are few minorities available in the work force that are / were sufficiently technically inclined to be able to hold a job that was not given to them. They hired all they could hire & then some.
It is very difficult, if not impossible to hire a "correct" racial makeup without discriminating against the existing employees. Not all are unqualified, but you cannot run a technical organization based upon Jesse Jackson's, et. al., formulas. The one way ticket to the moon and beyond still stands. I know many fine blacks that will contribute to the cause if I cannot pay the ticket price.
I bet you can name the others who are big trouble makers. Look at the cities that are being looted and burned. Look at the conventions that are being picketed. This guy makes no positive contribution to life. I respect Martin Luther King's methods and I am a white southerner (WASP).
Don't start kissing up to these trouble makers Apple. I will liquidate my holdings if you do and buy something else. -
Apple hires Flipboard co-founder Evan Doll to direct work on health software
The FDA & stupid government regulations are a big hold up. Since when has the Government been able to do enforcement of any laws. They just pass new ones that inhibit progress. Now they have some good guidelines, but they are the government & they are here to help us.
I only want my approximate parameters. The Watch or whatever it is should alert me to a possible situation that I need to get checked. I don't care if I walk 10,000 steps per day or 10,050 steps per day. I want my Fitbit or what ever to be able to transmit automatically into the Apple Health data without a intermediary application. I don't always carry my Boat Sized iPhone in the yard when I move around. I wear my health device, Fitbit, Garmin, Zip, or Apple Watch. If you are young and have no apparent health concerns, this may not be your interest. But if your are older, it can be a life saving software. Has not got to be able to do everything, just what is does needs to be accessible by users, & MD's. Bear in Mind the Medical Community is decades behind. They just don't want to admit it. How many times to you have to fill out the same paperwork for MD's. Similar info in a different order. Same data on Page 4 as on Page 1. If you are in the medical community and don't agree, I feel sorry for you. They just buy software that meets the government guidelines so they can continue to practice.
They are usually a member of a regional or area database, but if your MD's span geographic boundaries , Good Luck. Like pushing on a Rope. Sorry.
Not everyone can go to a Cleveland Clinic, Mayo, or UAB. We have the Bottom 95+% to pick from; what was your MD's grade point average in Medical School. When he passed the license test, he got to practice even if he was in the bottom 5%. -

No, a medical research scientist should not be in charge. Apple Health is the next big product. It is behind in the released version, but can come up to speed fast - next good iteration can do it. Needs to be able to manage data better under their own software and not have to rely on other little apps. Need to be able to print out data & charts for the MD and to be able to transfer data to the MD. It is my data and I use it almost every day. Have been able to call MD's hands with this data vs their single point analysis.
Apple Health is the next big thing. If they cannot do it, most users can help them. I know I can. Go Evan Doll. We need practical, complete solutions, not partial ones. Need a little flexibility. TomE
