  • Video: See Apple Maps in iOS 10 in action, with recommended stops along route & saved parked car lo

Too bad that the street name (onto which you need to turn) is still in small font, and not very visible when phone is on stand on car dash.

  • Apple could face slower upgrade cycles as study shows iPhone owners clinging to devices longer

Good. Slow down the rampant waste of materials and resources in the frenzy to constantly buy the same thing over and over.
Would be nice to nail down a timeless design case, and upgrade only the innards. They can keep the same thickness, and just increase the battery as the other things shrink. Wouldn't that be nice! That's why I hope the Ara project will take off.

  • Review: Apple's 4" iPhone SE is better than we deserve

Went to the Apple store the other day, and saw these first hand. They look good. They actually look better than the 6 series. I'm looking to sell my 6s plus and my wife's 6, and we'll both buy SEs. My 6s Plus is both too big and too heavy. The 6 is a compromise: less battery and camera than 6s plus, but too big for one-handed use, and slippery as heck (both 6 phones). Going back to the classic design, and portability.

  • Fitbit CEO says Apple Watch 'wrong way' to approach wearables

He is right. Apple's watch is selling this well only because it has the entire Apple weight and momentum behind it. For a small company, Fitbit is doing very well. The Apple watch is the first time when Apple wanted to do something, a watch, without there really being a good business/usability case for it, and this was admitted by Apple. Making it available in a $17,000 edition just made Apple look ridiculous. That's what I would think of anyone wearing a $17,000 Apple watch. If they had made a case which could have its innards upgraded every year, I could see the point of that.

  • Apple's Jony Ive previews The Met's 'Manus x Machina'

The smartphones are mature enough to allow this: durable outer shell and screen design which transcends years, and does not have to be replaced. Inner guts (processor, camera, storage, etc.) which can be upgraded every one or two years. Think of the money saved and the resources not wasted each year. That would be something indeed very refreshing. And you could do the same with cars. Many car's bodies outlast their engines and electronics. I think Tesla could do this better than all others.
A classic design should be as good as not to be changed every year. Sadly, the iPhone 6 design is not that. Maybe the iPhone 4 design language.
