  • A very false narrative: Samsung Galaxy S8 vs Apple's iPhone

A very false narrative. Umm, ok, why don't you share some article links from respectable sites that support your case???

I dislike these kinds of AI articles, seems so paranoid.

There's a difference between having competitors and talking up the competition vs proclaiming Apple is old news.

So is like Apple loving youtuber MKBHD (Marques Brownlee) a "false narrative" offender when he complains about the iPhone wishing they'd implement some features from Samsung phones?  Right, so no one can say anything?

    Get a grip AI.

I had a chance to touch and hold the Galaxy S8 and S8+

GOT TO SAY THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL PHONES. IMO, THE MOST BEAUTIFUL EVER. AND PAIR THAT MICRO BEZEL DESIGN WITH A CRAZY AMAZING SCREEN..........WOW.

For the doubters you need to see it in person and feel it. Pictures don't do it justice.

Hope the iPhone8 at least matches it on hardware design. Frankly the iPhone6, 6s, and 7 has fallen behind hardware design (the way the product looks) compared to Samsung. Kinda sucks.  Apple should have the best designs, but frankly that has not been true since the iPhone6.  have no idea what Ive does, but his iPhone designs have been CRAP lately.
It's clear Apple's advantages aren't with the hardware (the iphone does well with the same design for 3 generations!) and that's a good thing. Sure, the Sammy phones have been pretty slick but it's the eco system and apps that make a platform sticky and that's all on Apple's side.

As phones go bezeless the designs will pretty much look derivative, making the apps/eco system even more important. Iphone 8 will be a smash hit.

  • Apple CEO Tim Cook tapped to advise President Trump's 'Office of American Innovation'

What's up with these "Apple can't innovate" comments?  Who exactly is innovating then?  Seems to me the entire industry is in a lull and everyone is just refining products.

Having Cook involved in the admin sounds like a great idea. If you've been in business long enough you'll see the value in having opposing views.

Unfortunately the US has screwed itself because of it's education system. You go to a Ph.D program and pretty much 80-90% of the PhD candidates are foreign born. Americans are getting degrees in psychology and sociology instead of STEM creating a huge opportunity for foreign workers especially foreign Software Engineers.

You hit the problem on the head Safi.  Steve Jobs made it clear, that contrary to popular understanding,  the greatest impediment to moving production to the US was the shortage of engineers (not just software BTW, there are many other engineering jobs necessary to run a heavily automated plant).  This is an opportunity with the new administration to shift back towards a training and education model focused on meeting job demand, rather than funding each persons "self-discovery."   Indeed, most of these type of engineering jobs won't require Phd, or even traditional 4 year schools.  Let the revolution begin.

PS,  it is wonderful to hear that there is so much discussion of creating good paying jobs in the tech and other industries.  Previous administrations of both parties had given up on this, so kudos to a fresh start and innovative thinking.
Agreed, the lack of qualified people is the biggest problem in the US. I guess Trump's focus on more vocational/technical skills type education would be a good first step.
