iPhone 14 Pro lead times have returned to after-launch levels
I ordered my iPhone 14 Pro Max on 10th Dec (Australia).Initial email said delivery was 9th Jan. A few days later another email said upgraded to 29th Dec to 4th Jan.
It arrived 23rd Dec. I love that Apple under promise and over deliver.
Awesome phone BTW. Went from 4 to 6+ to 7+ to 11ProMax to this baby. -

Apple removes fake review identifier from App Store following Amazon complaint [u]
Detnator said:darkvader said:Apple should not have to host any app they don't like in their app store.Apple should not be allowed to prevent me from installing any app I like on MY iPhone. There's a very simple solution here. Apple MUST be forced to allow device owners to install software from any source they choose. It's the same issue in the Epic case, I would never suggest that Apple should be forced to host Epic's software, but if Epic wants to distribute software outside of Apple's app store, any mechanism Apple uses to prevent that is clearly and blatantly an illegal abuse of their monopoly of the iOS software market. It's time for antitrust law to come down HARD on Apple. And “iOS software market”. What… that’s like the Toyota car market or the Kleenex Tissue market, right? Good grief. But you’ve never replied to any of the other times I or anyone else has said any of this in response to your same blatantly incorrect rhetoric. So I won’t expect you to this time either.I think I’ve determined you’re not a paid shill because you’re not active enough for that. My new theory is you post this crap and then pull out the popcorn and watch just for laughs. -
Apple releases HomePod software update 14.2.1
mobird said:Will we see an update that provides the original HomePods with the Thread feature found on the HomePod mini? I understand that it can be enabled via software, if Apple is so inclined.
See equality72521's response below for what the Thread feature is about? It is found on the HomePod mini.I bought some nanoleaf lights and strips (BTLE and Thread) in anticipation of my coming HomePod mini.Still got delays of a second or more (even up to 5).Having them switch over to thread with the HomePod mini is night and day. Their response is near instantaneous now. Just need all other HomeKit gear to get on board with thread. -
Under-display Touch ID on an iPhone is still coming, leaker claims

Also, even though I kind of hate FaceID, I find myself missing TouchID most when I'm in a checkout line and trying to use Apple Pay. But you know what works better than an iPhone for that? The Watch. I want TouchID back too but really it's not that big a deal.Whenever I hear this complaint, it seems that the user is under the mistaken impression that you need to be looking at the phone while you are holding it against the terminal. That is not necessary. You can double press the side button while the phone is against the POS terminal and then authenticate your face. Much more convenient.Agree that the Watch is the best way to handle it, though.
Face ID is not a lot of use when you are trying to pay for fuel while wearing a full face crash helmet especially the retro AGV ones. OTOH, taking one glove off is easy.Oops, three others have already debunked the double passcode complaint.
