  • Apple criticized for users' unwanted sexual behavior in 'random chat apps'

So don't use it. HOW IS THIS SO DIFFICULT FOR PEOPLE. Just, don't use it. Exercise a microscopic molecule of personal responsibility and self control, and just don't use it if it is a problem for you.

How is this Apple's problem? How is this 'ban worthy'? People are the worst.

  • Apple's new 16-inch MacBook Pro reveals its future direction

Quote: ‘To blogger critics who have never done anything apart from writing their opinions on a subject, the solutions are simplistic: stop making light and thin machines, go back to using a keyboard from 2015, and add more RAM! Also, be faster with less heat and don't spin those fans up!’

It turns out that the solutions WERE quite simplistic - stop making such a thin and light machine, go back to using a scissor keyboard with a decent amount of travel, and add more power while addressing the heat issues.’

It was Apple who complicated things by pursuing its silly ‘thin at all costs’ mantra which undermined a generation of Macbooks. Now, with the new MacBook Pro, they are back on track
The new MBP is one piece of paper thicker than the 2016-2018. At the same time, it is thinner, smaller, and lighter than the 2012-2015 RMBP.
    What point are you making?

It took them 4 years to follow the 2015 MacBook Pro with a version customers don't despise. Until yesterday, there hasn't been a MacBook Pro that anyone was really happy about for years.

    There is no spinning this.

  • Apple survived dark days with optimism & teamwork, says Deirdre O'Brien

"...I consider it my responsibility and a privilege to show up every day in support of our underrepresented team members."

Let me be clear, I have no issue whatsoever with her pride in coming out.  Personally, her orientation doesn't matter to me in the slightest, but if she feels it was a big thing, good for her.  My question is....what does she mean by "underrepresented?"  Is she saying that Apple does't hire enough gay people?  Moreover, is her being an openly gay tech executive  in Palo Alto, CA really all that surprising?  I mean, this isn't the 1980's.  Gays are widely accepted.  Gay marriage is legal in all states.  Her statement seems to be virtue-signaling, and is so self-important.  I'm sure she doesn't view it that way, but...I wish people would get over themselves.

This is what really irritates people, because the idiots who said "it's not going to stop with equal rights" are now being proven right by even bigger idiots. Virtue signaling doesn't even cover it. These loud mouth narcissists are demanding special treatment that they think they're entitled to, and anyone who says, "Wait, what?" is just shut down by being called a bigot. Disagree with the political posturing of a person who is gay? Obviously a bigot.

Someone asked her what her proudest moment was; she answered honestly.

Do you think she should have said, "learning to ride a unicycle" just to protect your delicate self?
Well that's what I would have said had I learned to ride one.

Perhaps I’m wrong - I’m today’s world it’s probably the only way to get a promotion / job is by announcing ur sexuality etc.

    Odd.
Maybe you yourself won't benefit from it. But thousands of lives will be improved, even saved by people from all walks of life telling their coming out story. (Just do a casual search on "gay teen suicide" to understand.) The message is not really meant for you, should not offend you, so better to just disregard it. A little compassion goes a long way. And if you think Apple, or any other successful company would promote a person just because they announce their sexuality (you really mean gayness, not sexuality), you must be living in a different planet. If at all, announcing that you are gay is bad for one's career. Why do you think so many people stay in the closet?
I think the misunderstanding is many of us have compassion. So much in fact that we don't care about it because that's not how we identify people. Unless we're talking about my wife, I couldn't care less who sleeps with who, and no body I know cares either.

In this day and age who stays in the closet?
Errrnt. The person Tundra was replying to is clearly not compassionate, or he would understand that coming out is a big deal for the gay community
Or perhaps they just don't give a shit, because this isn't something anyone should have to care about, or even know about. When gay people make being gay a huge part of their identity, it makes everyone else roll their eyes and shake their head. Not at the homosexuality, but at the narcissism.

I think worse of you when you routinely, repeatedly, make these facts known about yourself, as if anyone cares, as if it is supposed to qualify for some special kind of treatment or attention.

None of the gay people I know do not behave like this at all, and they are all completely chagrined by the ones that do. This isn't normal behavior. It is narcissist, attention-seeking behavior.

  • Apple looking to make Watch bands with wireless antennas

There are just tons of opportunity here.  The Watch is highly constrained by space limitations -- but additional power, antennas and sensors could all be added once the band is made accessible to the watch body.   Another intriguing addition would be wireless integration with other sensors placed in strategic areas of the body such as in Airpods (body temp), bras (respiration), or embedded such as glucose monitors and other measurements of physiologic status such as electrolyte balances, pH, hydration, oxygenation, drug levels, etc., etc., etc., ...   All of which could be used for both medical and sports performance purposes.

The possibilities are endless and mind boggling...
Just like the possibilities with AR.

Yet, none of it has happened yet. "These things take time" is just not the answer. Apple Watch has been out for 5 years, every other day there is an alleged patent for some new technology in the bands, and not a single thing has materialized. Not one.

ARKit is also very far along now...still crickets on a single, useful, real world application.

What is it that is stopping the real innovation from happening? It isn't for a lack of ideas. Something else is artificially interfering with the production of real, meaningful innovation in these products.
