Just curious…. How does one in small planes like this connect to the internet while in the air?
Assuming your iPad has Cellular connectivity, you connect to a cell tower and stream data, just like on land. If you do not have Cellular, you are restricted to WIFI. On the ground, in front of the FBO, you can usually reach their WIFI. Assuming they gave you their password.
WiFi has limited range and certainly won’t reach an aircraft in flight.  Cellular may work at times, but would be kind of iffy depending on location.  It using the app for navigation, weather, and local conditions, it would seem important to have a reliable internet connection.  Just wondering how or what type of connection is used in flight… perhaps satellite?
The maps are downloaded locally to the device, and GPS is used to position your location against the downloaded maps. My friend is a pilot and uses Garmin devices for pilots in this fashion. Boaters have similar versions.

  • Stalled Visa plan to cut Apple Pay fees causing tension with card issuers

Not mentioned in this article, but at launch it was explained the fee banks paid was less than what they spent on fraudulent transactions, which is why they supported it — use of tokenized Apple Pay saves the banks money.

Decades of social movements in US has destroyed American's ability to operate manufacturing plant. The management are tied by human rights and spend way too much time on social issues of the workers. The people and the movement behind it are trying all they can to export this ideology to China and many other countries. But this is against capitalism which Taiwanese actually become better on execution.
Meaningless tosh. Read the history of labour movements. Read also, what happened to US manufacturing since Reagan. The world is bigger than just the US and China; even if that is the full extent of your world.
Agreed - I’m quite thankful for the 40-hour work week, weekends, child labor laws, etc etc…All introduced to the world as part of the labor movement, a check & balance against the extremely wealthy executive class that owned production and basically owned workers.

  • 'Foundation' is beautiful, lavish, and boring say reviews

"self-indulgent, meandering and more complicated than need be" - heh, this could arguably be applied to the source material itself. Just finished re-reading the first one. It was okay, but much more dull than I remembered as a teen.

  • EU proposing USB-C smartphone charger standard

Most new charging bricks already have a usb c input. Just use the cable that is included with your device. They are trying to solve a problem that already has a solution.
Exactly — the claim that people have “charges piling up” is bogus. It’s the same charger either way! Chargers and cables have been decoupled for over a decade.
