  • Apple working on cuffless blood pressure monitoring technology

My doctor told me last year that there is a medical study that says too much measuring of blood pressure can increase your blood pressure (but I couldn't confirm this with a web search.) So if a future Apple Watch takes too many measurements (and if you look at the measurements) it could actually make your health worse.
You have brought fear mongering and pearl clutching to a new level. Congrats, you get the FUD Award for the day.

Ffffff offffff. Patents protect implementations, no ideas. I will bet dollars to donuts there is no stolen implementation (code) and instead boils down to a claim that they thought of the idea first.

This is why software patents were a horrible mistake. Code is already protected by copyright, and I seriously doubt anybody is stealing code. Shops are writing their own code, thus their implementations of the ideas in question are unique. Just like if somebody manufactured a device to solve an existing problem, but did so with unique plans & parts. That's non-infringing, and that's what nearly anybody's software is -- unique.

  • Leviton announces second-gen Decora hubless HomeKit switches and plugs

What I dislike is the continued dependence on a 2.4 gHz network. It’s a PITA to setup if you don’t have a dedicated 2.4 gHz setup...
My new Mitsubishi HVAC system (and their horrible Kumo Cloud app) are in this boat. The manual even says you can’t use a dual-band network, it must be 2.4 only. Laaame. Thankfully the Eero system has a mode to temporarily downgrade to 2.4 only for 10 minutes for set up, then reverts to dual. Seems to be working.

    —three month to bankruptcy—.
This is a myth. Apple's cash and cash equivalents in the mid 90s would last 7 years assuming their quarterly losses matched the worst quarterly loss of that period. I know. I built an all Mac business based upon this forgotten fact. It wasn't pretty but it wasn't on the brink of bankruptcy either.
Not according to Gruber and every other Apple historian/writer I've read. It was dire. Certainly not 7 years of savings at the end.

Another crisis involving Apple turns out to be nothing more than clickbait. I'm so shocked.
Yeah. David Hansson is a tool. He likes to generate controversy and usually to his benefit.
