I don’t know about that.  For decades HK has been the gold standard in free market capitalism.  It disproved all those who said you needed lots of factories to have a strong economy.  It disproved all those who said you needed trade tariffs to protect the people from imports.  It disproved all those who said that you needed land and abundant raw material resources to be a global economic leader.  It disproved all those who said that you needed high taxes to keep the people heathy, well fed and educated.

While it has its faults, as all great cities do, HK has been a shining example of how to do many things right.

The Apple design involved actual engineering. Though the aesthetics of the new Mac Pro are indeed compelling, the case and internals were designed together, putting a lot of computational power inside, and and then enclosing it in a case that's designed specifically for those internals and is rigid and creates the right airflow to keep the computational power from burning itself up.

Suggesting you can take a look-alike case, fill it with off-the shelf components and get as good or better results than the Mac Pro is nonsensical. You can buy a fiberglass Ferrari lookalike car body and put a VW Beetle under it, or Cadillac parts under it or whatever. Your end result is not going to be a Ferrari. You will have a nifty looking VW bug, or a poorly designed, tricked-out overpowered car that throws a rod or flips over when you try to drive it like it's a Ferrari.

More fodder for the spec monkeys. 9to5Mac spins this story as a negative because the test results show the 11 Pro Max is worse than last year's XS Max. I have a close friend, an engineer, who studies the spec sheets of everything he intends to purchase, be it an automobile, a toaster, or recently a hot tub. It takes him weeks or months to make a decision based on features vs specs vs price. Style, design, experience apparently don’t enter into the equation much at all. To each his own.
