  • Apple FineWoven case review: Not the leather replacement we were hoping for

Lots of pooh-poohing the FineWoven cases durability. Did the leather case hold up great? It never seemed that way to me, but I was never going to pay $60 for an iPhone protector anyway. If you still want leather there are many options. Either Apple will lower their prices (and then potentially discontinue the product) because they don't sell, or they'll be popular enough to keep them about where are now. Either way, we all know we can get leather cases from many other sources.
I have a leather case and MagSafe card holder for my 13 pro and they've held up great. they don't look new but have worn exactly how I expect a leather product to wear and still work as good as the day I got them.

One slips in smoothly and easily without looking (Lightning).

The other you have to line up with a touch of care and usually having to look (USB C).
You folks are going to invent every possible back-of-hand-to-forehead problem with USB-C possible, aren't you? It's an absolute wonder that some of you were ever able to cope with connecting anything before precious Lightning was birthed from Phil Schiller's courageous bosom.
You folks? Us folks have history with all kinds of connectors and USB-C is a loose connection that has many problems. Lightning works as long as you keep the port clean from lint.
Agreed - as a connector I find lightning to be superior and it has proved its worth over the last decade. I wish the USB C connector was better. If it weren’t for the fact that USB C is fast becoming the standard for charging and data connectivity there would be no need for change but the spread of USB C, even within Apple’s own ecosystem means it’s time for lightning to fade away.

  • Apple staff will unsurprisingly tell iPhone 15 customers that Lightning won't work

Hopefully, Apple will sell a tiny little USBC to Lightning dongle. In the past, they would have just put it in the box. You can get them for like $2 per dongle now, so probably not. Well, hopefully they will support 3rd party ones and keep them in stock everywhere.
The iPhone chargers have USB ports on the charger end so no dongles would be needed:

The new iPhones will only need USB-C to USB-C cables and they will work with chargers from the past few years. For older chargers with USB-A, people can buy a USB-A to USB-C cable.
Except Apple quit supplying chargers and all the cables were USB A-Lightning so many people only have USB A chargers and no USB C chargesr or cables.

I think there will be big demand for usb-a to usb-c cables because every somewhat newer car i’ve seen has usb-a.     Has anybody seen cars with usb-c?  If so,  what brand?
My Polestar 2 has only USB-C ports. I’m guessing that Polestar’s sister company Volvo has switched to them as well.
My 2020 RAV4 only has USB-A ports so
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
    My 2020 Tesla Model Y has 1 USB A and 3-USB C ports
Most rental cars I've driven have USB A but some have USB C
every single airplane I've been on has USB A

8 years after Phil Schiller proclaimed 'USB C is the future' and everyone here on AI claimed USB A was dead, USB A appears to be alive and well.

  • Apple voices official support for California SB 244 right to repair bill

Wait - for the last several years we’ve seen a chorus of people screaming how iPhones and iPads are going to start blowing up, causing untold death and destruction if anyone besides Apple does the repair. Now that Apple is supporting a right to repair bill what will these people do? Is there enough crow to go around or are they going to start screaming how wrong Apple is to support such a bill?

Exactly! What if someone crosses the streams when they're trying to replace an iPad battery?
