  • How to upgrade the RAM on the new 2018 Mac mini

Since Apple isn’t advocating doing this, it voids the warrantee if you screw up. Don’t forget that. Is it worth it for cheaper RAM?
It does not explicitly void the warranty.

Also as the forum software doesn't always catch all of the main site's images, if you're following along, you're best off doing so with the video or from the main page.
If something goes wrong, and the computer stops working, I can pretty much guarantee, they will charge for the repair. They could also take your new RAM, and charge for the RAM they put in. This has happened before. Usually people will deinstalled the RAM they bought, and reinstall the RAM that came with the machine before bringing the computer to Apple. But if it doesnt work with the original RAM, they will know you screwed up, and charge for the repair. That’s been policy going back forever. If you’re really lucky, you may get someone in the store to be k8nd. But don’t bet on it. Apple isn’t marketing this machine as being do it yourself RAM or drive upgradable.
From Apple's October keynote: "Not only is this memory faster, but it's also in SO-DIMMs, something we know our Mac Mini customers will really appreciate."

What part about that says Apple isn't marketing this machine as supporting user-upgradeable RAM?
Apple obviously gave that feature to customers because they appreciate user-upgradeable RAM.

  • Blind comparison of photography on the iPhone XR versus Google Pixel 3 XL

How come all the photos, except the one with the guy and his dark jacket, are all three feet nearer when taken with the Google phone? Hardly a fair like-for-like comparision, the shots are different. All the images looked good, some better than others. 50-50 with me, but it's great that we have such tech in small packages.
The Pixel 3 XL automatically crops in when you're taking Portrait photos, simulating a telephoto lens.
The good: Background compression looks really nice since it forces you to stand further back.
The bad: You can't take wide portrait photos.

"This means users can connect an external 5K display, extra storage or even charge their iPhone with a USB-C to Lightning cable." Define extra storage? I cannot find anything about that on Apples Site. Looks like it can see the same external devices as before, Like cameras, keyboards and such. USB-C Hard drives and Flash drives are not mentioned.
The video script that I wrote said: "This means you can charge your phone with it and connect it to external devices like cameras or even an external 5K display, which will mirror everything onto that display."

Not sure who added the external storage bit.

  • iPhone XS, XS Max have new power chip designed by Apple, extra antenna band

Two things that I haven't heard a word on:
    1)   Does it use an Intel or Qualcomm modem?
    2)   How does Gigabite LTE compare to 5G?   Is it worth waiting?
Intel, just read the full teardown.

No word on the wireless charging coil? The extra speed came from nothing, or they just didn't check for differences?
