Privacy and security are Apple's top App Store priorities, Tim Cook says
OutdoorAppDeveloper said:Was it privacy or security that convinced Cook to implement a program to scan everyone's photos on iCloud without their permission and without a search warrant? -
Privacy and security are Apple's top App Store priorities, Tim Cook says
AlwaysWinter said:I used to be really comfortable with these privacy & security rationales but after the whole CSAM scanning thing leaked I’m not really convinced. On macOS we’ve been able to install apps outside of the App Store without really killing platform security. It also seems like we’re still leaving iCloud end to end encryption out deliberately at this point. So for the first time ever I’m perfectly fine with side loading apps and just not seeing this ‘privacy & security first’ claim in their actions.
And from the rest of your post, you don't understand it, iCloud or end to end encryption, and what Apple is doing. -
Meta's Zuckerberg takes shots at Apple App Store fees, maintains its own
OutdoorAppDeveloper said:Apple's closed ecosystem was also criticized by the Zuck. Apple is an easy target right now with its massive profits and anti-customer/anti-developer rules and fees.
Recent surveys show Apple consumers appreciate & buy Apple products for the security & privacy (recent article on Apple Insider). -
Apple already included workaround for MacBook Pro notch

The proper way to handle this is, that the code which draws the menu bar, simply makes that unavailable. Very few apps draw into the menu bar directly, so frankly why should developers even have to jump through hoops for something Apple’s libraries should handle transparently without additional efforts by developers?
And yes - this includes big developers, also. -
Chinese students sue Apple over not including chargers with iPhones
GeorgeBMac said:MplsP said:This is a bit ironic coming from the land of cheap chinese knockoff chargers!
Like Apple sells?
I've never had an Apple AC adapter fail. In general that's all I buy, except for multi-port USB-A/USB-C desktop chargers. I know many people who pick up a lightening cable, DC/DC adapter (car) or AC/DC converter at a gas station that fails soon.
And yes - I have tubs of unused USB-A & USB-C AC/DC converters. I give them away to family/friends, when one of their knock-offs fail.
