  • A custom USB-C cable can jailbreak the T2 chip in a MacBook Pro

I'm pretty sure that when people "jailbreak" their iPhones, the changes persist after a reboot.  As the original article pointed out, the T2 cannot be updated--everything on the chip is read only.  So it's not accurate to say that the T2 can be jailbroken.
You are incorrect - the only known, modern jailbreak is lost when the device is rebooted, and not connected to a Mac/PC.  The vulnerability in the T2 chip is the same as on the iPhone models that are vulnerable to the current/modern jailbreak.

  • Leaker claims 'HomePod mini' is coming, 'HomePod 2' is not

I used to love my HP, but I have gradually fallen out of love with it over Siri. The sound quality is great, but thats about it. Siri is plain terrible, and seems to be getting worse, at least versus Alexa/Google Home. I thought when Apple introduced a new speaker with its main UI being Siri, they'd prioritise making Siri less crap. But apparently not. For anything other than the most basic of music playing commands, it either:

    • Misunderstands what I say (though that is reasonably rare now, maybe 10% of the time, was 30%)
    • Misinterprets what I mean (30% of the time)
    • Misses the "Hey Siri" keywords (10% of the time)
    • Siri activates on the wrong device (30% of the time)
    • Doesn't work because of a "network issue" when everything else is fine (was never, now 20%)
    • Fails to find my phone on the network despite it being on the network and working fine - this usually happens when adding reminders, despite it having access to the reminders via iCloud (was never, now 30% of the time)
    • Answers "I can't do that/find the answer to that on HomePod" (most questions that are not related to iOS itself. I'm always surprised when it answers correctly)

Which adds up to mean it doesn't work often enough that if my phone is in the same or next room, it takes less time to go and get it and use Siri on my phone directly, or just use the UI. There are non-Siri related issues too, both of mine seem to have lost their auto gain settings, because when using Facetime Audio people complain they can't hear me. Also the audio stream regularly stops for a bit and we lose each other for 5-10 seconds. No such issue with my phone on the same network. Oh and the activation light being on the top is dumb, because you don't know if Siri has activated unless the HP is lower than you are. This is all really unfortunate, because it has really soured my view of the HP which is potentially a great device.
For those I highlighted in bold, sounds like you now (because you state it's getting worse) have a home WiFi & BT interference issue.  What device Siri activates on is based on being able to find your other devices via primarily BT.  The other two definitely need reliable WiFi.  Maybe something changed in your environment to cause interference or unreliability with WiFi & BT?

  • New AirPods firmware enables Spatial Audio, automatic switching

“ So long as the AirPods Pro are in the charging case and connected to an iOS device” - how can they be in the case and at the same time connected?
I think he means just have the AirPods paired to a device. The closer they are to your router  the sooner the update will occur.
Um... No.  Your router has nothing to do with AirPods - they can't see or use your router.  The AirPods are bluetooth only and work through your iPhone/iPad/Mac to receive the update.  Proximity to your router has absolutely zero to do with getting the AirPods updated.

  • Congressman says antitrust hearing confirmed Apple's 'deeply disturbing' behavior

There is little doubt they abused their position
Can you provide evidence or proof of how Apple abused their position?

  • Apple blocked WordPress for iOS updates until it agreed to in-app purchases [u]

I don't really understand why tech blogs are trying to associate this with antitrust issues. Apple isn't trying to prevent sales outside of the App Store. They just want their customers who use the App Store to have an opportunity to purchase in the app. That's not an unusual business practice. Amazon doesn't allow sellers to use Amazon's site to direct customers to an external purchase.
Apple forcing developers to sell the same product for the same price via the App Store as they do on their own site. They aren't allowed to charge 30% more via the App Store to offset the Apple commission.
You're mistaken about this part - app developers ARE allowed to charge less outside Apple's App Store.  They may not be able to advertise the other price *in the app*, but they are allowed to charge whatever they want, outside Apple's App Store (and many do).
