Third episode of 'Adventure' immersive video series dives onto Apple Vision Pro
Agreed that existing camera systems don't have enough resolution. Canon's own executives are on record saying we need a 100MP sensor at 60fps. The Explore POV app does a good job, but it's upscaling 8K to 16K and just getting there. Blackmagic's camera just opened pre-orders and it's the one we need: 117MP at 90fps! I wrote about it here:And right now, FCP 11 doesn't have built-in support for Immersive 180° 3D: Immersive and Spatial are both 3D but they're not the same. You can do 360° 3D if you muck around with the custom project settings, but FCP can't edit 180° yet. Spatial means a narrower field of view (like feature film 3D) but not 180°. I wrote about that here: -
Apple's 'Submerged' for Apple Vision Pro is submarine warfare terror in the comfort of you...
Thank you for the review — I just watched Submerged myself and it's good to know it stands up to someone one's been there.Submerged really is a great start for modern, narrative Immersive filmmaking, and I'm sure there are creative people out there being inspired by it. (If anyone's curious to know more, I'll be talking about 3D, Spatial and Immersive filmmaking at the Final Cut Pro Creative Summit coming up in about a month in Cupertino, including an Apple Park visit, and I'll definitely be mentioning this film.) -
Just about every iPhone 16 Pro camera detail has been leaked
Shooting in a higher resolution than you plan to deliver allows you to crop into the frame without compromising the image quality. I do this all the time on my Lumix GH6, which lets me shoot 5760x4320, using the whole 4:3 sensor, in "open gate" format. I can then punch in to deliver 4K widescreen or portrait if the client requests it.The other use case is for delivering direct to the Apple Vision Pro, one of the few displays that can display images bigger than 4K. -
