  • Apple services & Apple Card 'too late to the game,' HSBC downgrades stock

    mac_dog said:
Apple is still a disrupter. The credit card, insurance  industries are possibly the last of the sectors that, thus far, have skated by without any real innovation. And they’re soiling themselves.
Apple Card is as basic as basic can get.

  • Apple's Mac spotted in viral image with black hole researcher

This is a little unclear. Were Macs used to process any of the data or did she just get the completed file emailed to her and view it on a Mac?
All that data was certainly processed by hardware running Linux.

  • Netflix drops AirPlay support citing unnamed 'technical limitations'

    What a bunch of crap.

Netflix is controlling what I do with MY subscription on MY devices.

    Not right. At all.

    There are no tech limitations.

Netflix streams a video. Then my iPad takes care of sending it to my big screen.

Netflix literally has to work harder to PREVENT ME from enjoying the service the way I want than to allow airplay to work.

It sucks when apple goes to awesome lengths in crafting crafting wonderful tools to enjoy life easily and then stupid decisions like this are made by every little player to further their own ends.
Apple (and almost every other company) does the same shit with their devices/services. Quit your crying.

Perfect troll fodder. Thanks AI! Okay, haters, let’s hear all the reasons for the “drop” and how Apple is no longer fit to work for.
That is a binarist, somewhat childish assumption in a 100k+ corp. It very much depends on where, and under what regime/circumstances. I can imagine that as a shop employee, in logistics, marketing, provisioning... you can have a great, even lifetime employment. But then, e.g. as a young designer, it must be quite frustrating to see so many pilots for new designs being denied higher up on the corporate ladder, looking at the pace of development now. Imagine what it must be in 2019, to see that the company returns to the iPad (Mini) design of 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012 with homebutton/huge bezels etc. that you just had innovated away. Same for several innovative/IT/high tech positions. Imagine 10k patents on the shelf not being pursued or products being denied somewhere during the development cycle - including the one you worked on... Imagine as a design engineer, finding out that the development hurdles for creating a modular Mac Pro are being solved in a week/month or so in small tech companies on Chinese streetcorners. Try to think by yourself - working in a 132k employee company will undoubtedly result in many happy minds but an incumbent (i.e. merely defensive) strategy does not always appeal to the mere creative minds. Which has more to do with a giant global company than with trolling - but you’re welcome to think otherwise.
Bahahahah... Yes, generic PC clones on chinese street corners are the same as Mac Pros. Same use cases, designs, and solutions. Good one, thanks for he laugh. Stay thirsty, my friend!
I’ve built a couple of Hackintosh that run faster and at a cheaper price than Mac Pros. I’m sorry but Macs are overpriced, and nowhere near as useful as a PC that runs Windows. Stay delusional, my friend.
    Then why are you here?
I’m sorry but this forum isn’t only for those whose head is deep inside Apple’s colon. I’ve got plenty of Apple and non-Apple devices, and I will post my opinion as I see fit.

  • Latest Facebook-related security breach finds millions of records exposed on Amazon server...

Facebook could potentially end up paying billions in U.S. fines as a result of these breaches.

I would hope so. It is the only way these companies will learn, and hopefully put sufficient safeguards in place.
I would prefer to see companies paying fines they would feel than send the executives to jail. The key is making it a large enough fine for the company to take notice and I have yet to see that happen.
Paying fines AND sending them to jail would be the best approach.
