  • Apple tied with fifth-place Asus in Q2 global PC market

Please keep in mind the top 4 on that list sells some PCs and laptops for under $300

    Apple lowest is $1k

    To put it in context
Get real. The only "under $300" PCs run ChromeOS.
    1. IDC doesn't count Chromebooks as PCs so they aren't listed in the above figures.
    2. Even if they did, ChromeOS sales are generally a little more/a little less than macOS sales.

Unlike ChromeOS, which can run on 4 GB RAM, 32 GB of flash storage and an Intel Celeron, AMD Athlon or low end ARM CPU, Windows 11 needs 8 GB RAM, and Intel Core i3 or AMD Ryzen 3 and a 128 GB SSD to do anything at all. That runs about $450. While Windows devices cheaper than that do exists they don't sell that well.
Finally the Mac Mini starts at $700. Not $450 like a Ryzen 3 desktop but not "lowest $1K" either.

So end the nonsense narratives fueled by false information. The truth: Apple Silicon didn't change squat and Mac remains the minor player in the "PC" space that it was before. Apple is:
    1. iPhone
    2. services
    3. iPad
    4. wearables (Apple Watch and Airpods)
    5. Mac
    6. smart devices (Apple TV and HomePod)

Yes, the Mac generates more revenue than the wearables division. But the wearables division is more influential: far more people buy the Apple Watch and especially AirPods than Macs.

Not sure why you’re so angry but continuous increase in Mac sales is more than “didn’t change squat”. What a joke.

And quit the bull**** there’s plenty of Windows virus machines under 200 bucks.

  • Apple working on folding iPhone display with more robust bend radius

What I’m waiting to see is all the people on sites like this who completely dismiss and trash foldable displays as useless and pointless who will then turn around and gush about how great they are once Apple makes one.

It’s not surprising that Apple is at least looking into this - they would be remiss not to. We’ll see if anything comes of it. As many people here have posted, Apple puts more stock in doing something well than in doing it first. Samsung did it first and we saw how well that turned out! Beyond the technical hurdles of making it functional and durable, part of the problem with  such a display is making it usable. The entire operating system and user interface are designed around a single display and simply folding it out doesn’t make for a very functional device. I’m sure the interface team at apple is already working on this, though.

    Dude…

People are trashing knockoff Apple companies that crapped out foldable iPhoneys so idiots can say they did it first. (Not directed towards you.)

Just like how Samsung crapped out Galaxy Edge and curved TVs after Apple patented a curved display. Like how Samsung crapped out Galaxy Watch when they saw Apple Watch coming. Some iKnockoff morons even think Samsung invented the smartwatch.

Apple does things right and does major things first all the time.

  • Transcend JetDrive Lite review: An easy way to add local storage to the MacBook Pro

I kinda want to get one just to plug up one of the ports Apple was pressured to put in on my 16-inch M1 Max MBP, that I will never, ever use.

Yes. I agree. Maybe next year they’ll add a floppy disk drive for the “pros”?

I’m disappointed they went for an SD card slot instead of an extra USB-C port. Apple should have announced tiny USB-C drives that slip in the port to help people deal with the migration to new tech. I have also been waiting years for tech like this.

Also not sure why people complain about missing legacy tech when there’s USB-C adapters for everything. It never made sense to me to ditch a port that can provide hundreds of possibilities for ONE proprietary port like SD cards.

  • Apple releases full trailer for animated comedy 'Luck'

For the life of me I don’t know why Apple hasn’t acquired this studio or any studio really. It’s also awkward to see 3rd party logos on Apple TV Plus. “Sony Pictures” for example. This one should be good since it’s John Lasseters new company. This could be Pixar 2.0 but Apple won’t bite.

If Apple does acquire a studio, it should be THIS one. Now better than when the value shoots up because it will. Wouldn’t be surprised if Skydance becomes the next Dreamworks.

  • Simply Mac bankruptcy: Who to call, what happened, and why

Makes me think either Apple supports these partners more or build more Apple Stores.

Partners closing don’t help Apple in any way unless Apple replaces them.
