  • Volkswagen CEO isn't sure that Apple wants to build cars

I’ve thought the same for a while now. It’s one thing to produce a system that is used in other people’s cars, and making the whole thing yourself. The latter involves setting up a dealer network, service and support systems, dealing with warranty claims and more. The current network of AppleStores would simply not work at all for this. Apple would have to build a new car dealership network from scratch. Apple has experience designing software. It’s another story with seats, air bag systems, wheel bearings, door locks, and all the rest of the stuff that goes into a car.
Why reinvent the wheel, when they can make something to go on other people’s products. Far less hassle and far more money to be made in the latter.

Imagine if Henry Ford and other manufacturers thought this way…. We would all be riding horses.

Apple spending years and billions to supply an extension of iPhone only is NOT a good idea. At some point they would need hardware.

    DAMN.

Polestar's current built-in OS is Android Auto (no phone connection needed, it's built from the ground up by Google), so you don't have to imagine very hard - it'll basically be the same as it is now but with an Apple UI instead of a Google one.

No, no, no. I was suggesting imagine THE ENTIRE CAR from hardware to features.

  • Apple sold five of the top ten smartphones in April 2022

I wonder why iPhone SE isn’t #5? Why isn’t “mini” on the list?

The mini is gigantic. If Apple made the “mini” the size of the SE screen that would be nice. Not sure why it has to be so freaking huge.

  • Compared: M2 MacBook Air vs Surface Laptop Go 2

The fingerprint reader on the iPad/Wannabe MacBook thing must be horrendous. My friend had a Windows virus-machine laptop and the fingerprint reader would fail so many times he would give up and say “dammit! Let me remember the password”. He was one of those people who would forget passwords and most of the time it was more practical to just type in his guesses.

He always bought Windows virus-machines because Apple was “too expensive” yet he would have to replace his Mac wannabe every 6 months.

Honestly, once the microprocessor gets to Four (4) nano meters which is the smallest it can get by the rules of Physics, EVERY computer will be the same.  "My calculator is faster than yours" - said no one.  We are currently at Seven (7) nm.  The rest is just false marketing.  It will be the ecosystem that will change the tide, and who has a device in their pocket which Microsoft manufactures?  Apple will win, but they better be working on three dimensional microprocessors.
And Bill Gates said we would never need more than 640K RAM. (Joke, the quote is unconfirmed).

There is no end with computation. At least not in the next 1000 years.
