Apple 'won't make an exception' for Epic to skirt App Store rules
mdriftmeyer said:I'll just say having worked for Steve twice, if he were presently alive and most likely the Chairman of Apple he would demand EPIC be banned for life after the parody video of 1984 that he and his team worked their asses off to introduce the Macintosh to the globe. Obviously, he would have officially gone through legal channels but I wouldn't have put it past Steve to really hang out the CEO of EPIC by going on say CNBC or some other Wall Street show to explain how such a destructive stunt it is for professionals to pull when trying to build long term relationships.Tim is far more judicious. Steve would have belittled the hell out of him as only Steve could do.
Tim is way too nice.
Steve would have hired the best engineers in the world to create a better engine than Unreal and make it exclusive for Apple developers. With Apple Silicon Macs, this is the perform time to create one engine for Apple platforms.
Which makes me wonder, since Apple platforms will be truly cross-compatible if in the near future apps and games will display "For Apple" instead of "for iOS" / "for MacOS". -
Apple threatens to close Epic Games developer account on Aug. 28
There goes (estimated) 30% of your revenue, morons.
Also to the morons who say "Epic doesn't need Apple and Apple is not responsible for it's success".
Epic disagrees. From the lawsuit:
""The iOS userbase is enormous. There are nearly a billion iPhone users worldwide and over 1.5 billion active iOS devices, including both iPhones and iPads."Typically, these users will use only iOS devices and will not also use mobile devices with a different OS. In addition to its size, the iOS user base is also uniquely valuable in that its user base spends twice as much money on apps as Android users."This is consistent with Epic's experience, as the average iOS Fortnite user spends significantly more on in-app purchases than the average Android Fortnite user. iOS users are therefore a "must have" market for app developers to compete in; an app developer that chooses to develop apps for Android but not iOS forgoes the opportunity to reach over one billion high-paying app users." -

Chaos is prevented, business is made, and products are better. With the recent whiners who want to pretend that Apple doesn’t deserve their storefront and hosting / delivery fees, even the guys who really should know better are jumping in. Shameful.Reminds me of all the “we don’t need law enforcement” stuff going on.Yes. We do. Get back in line and stop stealing.
Those people mean "We don't need cops getting paid to kill people" which is actually happening. Easy to criticize from the comfort of Mr.
And THAT is the problem. People thinking police are automatically good people and "more good than bad". Assault someone at work and see how fast you're fired. Even your local McDonalds employee has more respect and morals than the best cops.
Living in a privileged community will have you saying crap like this. Where I grew up, cops beat kids and laughed about it.
And nope, I've held way more dangerous jobs than cops. That myth that cops have a dangerous job has been debunked statistically for decades.
