Apple breaks silence on iPhone 14 Pro impact from COVID

I worked for Apple in purchasing for 12 years, and never quite got why people would camp out overnight to be the first to get a shiny new Apple product. Sure, they do a great job of pumping demand. But I can make do with my previous gen devices for a month or two.I can't see why Apple isn't actively engaged with the Chinese government to persuade them to allow the Pfizer vaccine and with Pfizer to acquire about 350,000 doses at-a-time to get everyone at Foxconn vaccinated. Foxconn to dodge China lockdown, move iPhone production to India
verne arase said:waveparticle said:Why is AAPL crashing with this good news?
Really Apple has stupidly kept too much production in China - they should've moved away from China long ago - I've been writing Apple telling them that for years.
I'd personally prefer moving production to a facility in a non-BRICS country even if labor and transportation costs are higher - there's no telling what authoritarian or quasi-authoritarian governments will attempt next - their policies and restrictions just aren't entirely rational.
Then again, I'm an outsider again - I've sold my Apple after all these shenanigans and will wait until some Pro production is moved out of China.
This is the last thing Apple needs for the holiday season - especially with Pro units already backlogged.
Consumers only have so much patience - who knows how many unit sales will be lost to Apple because buyers need to have something to wrap at Christmas? -
Apple can't make enough of the iPhone 14 Pro to meet demand

This is an insignificant cost compared to $300/month on food, $1000/month on rent, $200/month on transport/expenses. If someone has $3k/month after tax, more than half is on the main living costs. An iPhone is less than 1% of monthly income.
Apple is in pretty much the best possible market (high volume, premium margins, affordable for billions of people) with the best product, no matter the market conditions.
