Apple made it a point to tell users that the new MacBook Pro has a material change, and has a more reliable keyboard
A bit generous, no? Failed design and embarrassment, this keyboard is. It’s like with the iPhone 4, there was nothing wrong with the antenna, but 4s had a new antenna with another band to stop the non-problem.
There is no doubt that the keys are closer together than my previous MacBook Pro 2015. I now type on a 2018 MacBook Pro, and make numerous typos caused by the over-tight keyboard. I'm not sure why Apple decided to do this. Just cut a larger section for more key space? It must be more involved than that -- I hope. Otherwise, it was just a lack of real life testing.
It’s bad design. Like the lack of key travel. Circular mouse. European plugs and headphone jacks without friction grips to push in and pull out of ports. Arrow keys for looks over function. Thinness for thinness sake, even at the expense of poor battery life. Apple are imperfect when it comes to design. We all know this. We should. Some of us give them a free pass, and some of us do not. Some companies such as Jason Fried’s have had over 50% of staff with keyboard issues. I never heard complaints like this for the old keyboard and neither did anyone else. As Gruber rightly points out, this keyboard is Apple’s biggest disaster *in their modern history. Still love Apple’s trackpads, but until we have a very reliable, awesomely tactile keyboard I’ll hold off on purchasing a Mac, and I recommend others do too. We should expect more and not settle. This keyboard should do down in history as a great business and design example of corporate arrogance and over-engineering.

  • Apple to build $1B campus in Austin, increase employment nationwide

The 1.5 million jobs related to the app store is a bullshit figure. Did they ever say how much is the minimum a dev is to earn before Apple counts them toward one of those jobs? $5 per month is not a job. The number sounds fishy and disingenuous.

  • First 2018 MacBook Air unboxing videos hit YouTube

The 2013 MacBook Air already had impressive speaker sound, so it's interesting that they felt they needed to improve this even more. Glad to see some love given to the microphone tech, too. Guess Siri was the primary driver behind that. The clearer the sound that Siri receives, the better the experience will be, so I expect all Apple products will receive mic upgrades over time.
Indeed. A research study conducted in the last year suggests as much—a critical issue with dictation comprehension is lack of smartphone mic quality and mic count. Future CE devices need an array of mics like HomePod.

Regarding MBA, while the speakers are decent, I have Boom permanently in use on device for a volume increase. In a kitchen you have various noises and I need more volume. Quality is a bonus. That said, this machine is not for me as I hate these keyboards. Down the road I don’t know what I’m going to do, as Apple are being most stubborn on this issue. My prediction is they significantly redesign the keyboards within three years. I hope I am right and I hope they fix the feel of these things. Stability is not what I’m after in a keyboard, I’m after a keyboard that feels lovely. Theses IMO do not. And I’ve never heard of a MBA keyboard dying from dust. In the words of Yoda, ‘unfortunate, this is’.

There’s inherent bias built into knowing you’ve early access to an Apple product and that you’re expected to do a video unboxing of it. If you react badly it’s understood you won’t get early access again. Apple makes great products, but these videos are ads.
Pretty much every tech reviewer receives every single non-Apple tech product to review for free. So, on this topic it's absurd to think Apple has any advantage over anyone else, quite the opposite.
Do you dream at night with Apple struggling against other companies, because your comment has no relation to mine. I mentioned only one company, Apple. This website is about Apple and this video is about an Apple product. That’s what my comment is about. Why must we discuss other companies vs Apple the whole time. It’s playground stuff. I literally couldn’t give a shit about Google, what shit they talk about and what privacy raping slab they are working on.

My comment remains the same. These videos are biased; they are ads.
