  • What are all the complications on the leaked Apple Watch 'Series 4' face?

I can appreciate why someone would love it. But not me. But I haven’t warmed to the Watch in general. I got a hand-me-down Watch from my dad. My mom gave it to him for Christmas and he didn’t get it. I wear it when exercising. Otherwise it sits on its charger. I dig it as a fitness tool, especially being able to plan workouts on my phone and then use the Watch to step me through them, record sets and reps, track rest time, etc. I’ve tried wearing it throughout the day and don’t find any of the other features or third party apps compelling enough. I haven’t worn a watch in over 20 years, though, so I’m a tough sell.
The AW looks gorgeous but I'm a tough sell too. Was a long-term adviser on an aid project overseas. Left wearing a watch, arrived in a place where time was interpreted differently and returned 5 years later not wearing a watch. Haven't worn a watch since (15 years) :#
Where was that and how was time interpreted there? I’ve never worn a watch in my life.

  • Apple's failed Ping showed how hard it is to create a music service

The problem with ping is it wasn’t a good idea. It was too focused and was more of a feature than a service. It was like a worse version of Twitter. I said it from the beginning, from the time it was launched, Ping should have been a column button in iTunes for every song and in one click it would tweet your now paying song title with a link to Twitter and post it to Facebook. So it’d be no more than a convenient way to tell your friends what’s now playing in your iTunes. Nothing more, nothing less. That’s all Ping should have been. An iTunes feature. Not a limited crappy social network.

"AirPod 2" I've been waiting and waiting. (Please, Apple?)

    My dream:
A new iPhone SE with larger screen realestate, 3D touch, "Reachability", and AirPods2 bundled in-box.
For this, I will pay you anything you ask, Apple. ANYTHING!!
So you want the SE, but with a larger screen? I don't know about the bundle, but the phone you want already exists..it's called the iPhone 8.
Uh no...   Those who like the SE for its size like it because of its external size.  The frame of the 8 is far bigger than the SE so that is a false comparison.

If Apple continues with the SE, eventually it will have a full face screen like the X.   That will keep the external frame size but give it a larger screen size.  Unfortunately, that will also increase its cost somewhat -- which is a feature other SE fans like.
iPhone X on the left, iPhone SE on the right. There's not a giant difference in size.

That’s a X with no case and SE with an ugly, wide case. Here’s a better photo to size compare with both without cases. Very different sizes.

  • 2018 iPhone refresh more than a spec bump, may not be called 'S' or 'plus'

Ditching plus branding only works well if both phones offer all the same features. If they do it’s a no brainier plus branding is likely gone. As for the 6.1” iPhone, making it 6.1” as opposed to 5.8” is confusing. And it is sensible to assume it will be named iPhone 9, and will feature a single lens camera and LCD screen.
I wonder if they keep the 7 and 8 around.
They’ll allow their propensity for profit over product lineup clarity, simplicity and elegance inform their direction on that one—sigh.

Were it my decision the entire linup would consist of an LCD 5” full screen iPhone with Face ID and squared-off sides as the full-screen small choice. Existing SE hardware with iPhone 8 processor and camera as the true budget small choice (but only if the 5” couldn’t be made affordable enough). And the two X phones they are planning this year—with feature parody for both and no more plus branding.

Four iPhone display size options and no old iPhones: SE, 9, X (2 sizes).

Or if the 9 could be made affordable enough I’d can the SE, drop the number 9, increase focus and offer customers an ideal lineup:
    (1) iPhone - 5”
    (2) iPhone X - 5.8” and 6.5”
