  • How to run Mac OS 9 on Apple Silicon using UTM

Awesome subject! However, this is not the best way to run OS 9 on a Mac. Sheepshaver is significantly better in both features and stability. Although, will run 9.0.4, as a whole, it’s much better

  • Is Apple finally serious about gaming after its latest push?

    “Apple is serious about gaming”

Full me once, shame on Apple. For me twice…well, it was the mid to late 2000s…Shame on me 🤣.

Apple is only serious about making money, I don’t care about gaming or anything else. They’re making a ton of money on smaller/mobile games, and Apple Arcade. It doesn’t seem to be translating well to AAA gaming. So, ultimately, no matter how much Apple pretends to be serious about it, I think the AAA developers will fizzle out on the Apple gaming side.

  • Apple permits first PC emulator for iOS into the App Store

Apple kills me with the lack of computer emulation on the iPad.. If they really wanted to, they could work out a way to sandbox JIT and the hypervisor. Either way, it’s perfectly fine and secure on a Mac, it’ll be perfectly fine on an iPad too. it can just be an extra layer. You have to turn on, with all a bunch of warnings. I’d even be willing to hook the iPad up to a Mac and use Configurator to turn on the option, but I really need JIT and hypervisor..I’m currently using a paid developer account to do it through AltStore. It’s a bit of pain in the butt having to re-sync at the AltStore after every reboot, but it works perfectly fine, doesn’t present any true security issues that matter to me

  • Late 2025 for M4 Mac Studio & Mac Pro seems more certain now

Well that rather sucks if I may be so blunt. The Mac Studio with M2 Max is looking to be slower than a M4 based MacBook at this point.
Incorrect. The internal memory bandwidth of a Mac Studio M2 is several times that of any MacBook M4. The SSD speed is astonishing, nothing like it could ever be achieved on a laptop. A fast CPU/GPU means nothing if you don't have a system board that can handle that level of performance.

I invested heavily in a Mac Studio M2 Ultra with 4TB of SSD, correctly predicting that it would be a long time before it was dethroned as Speed King. I was correct.
What kind of SSDs speeds are you getting on your Studio? They’re rated exactly the same as the comparable M2 or M3 MacBook Pros, but slightly slower than the fastest M.2 SSDs.

Apple cut the memory bandwidth on the M3 SoCs, likely because nothing was talking advantage of it, and they probably also wanted to get energy and power down some. Since there’s no M3 Studio or Pro, we can’t know if they’d do the same for that, but likely would.

    Currently, there’s no M4 Macs.
