  • Apple Music launches Shazam Discovery Top 50 chart

So... is the article saying it is a playlist on Apple Music or a playlist on Shazam?  I couldn't tell.
If the playlist is on AM, does that mean it is one of the main ones - like New Music, Favourites and Chill Mix or is it a playlist we need to search for?

  • WebKit working group publishes anti-tracking policy

The linked document is very easy to read and quite informative.
It seems to be a real shot across the bow to folks like Facebook and Google.

Very exciting stuff - I’m looking forward to seeing more from this team.

  • Apple's HomePod launches in Japan this summer

Cool to see that Apple is branching out with some more international distribution of the HomePod.

I will be interested to see how it sells in Japan.  From my brief time there in the past I am aware of how many people live in quite a confined space.  The HomePod has excellent bass, but this bass has a tendency to go straight through walls to annoy the neighbours.  I haven't bought one for this reason.

The Japanese are generally a very thoughtful and considerate people - will the possibility of annoying the neighbours stop them from buying the HomePod too?
Appreciate any thoughts from any Japanese posters on the board.

    Cheers

  • Used Google Nest cameras connected to the Wink hub are spying on users [u]

If this had somehow happened to an Apple affiliated program the tech press would be out of their minds. There would be 6 o’clock news stories, mass hysteria.

I bet the Endgadget & The Verge editorial teams are stroking their keyboards now just dreaming about this possibility.

  • 'Sign in with Apple' better than using passwords, says Google authentication chief

Risher objects to the "bunch of innuendo" that suggests "only one of them is pure, and the rest of them are kind of corrupt." Google is said to only log the moment of authentication, and that it isn't using the event for any other purpose such as advertising, only for the user to see where they used it within a page of the Google account's Security Checkup.
“Oh, of course we respect Safari’s security provisions. We would never hack into and ignore the preferences the customer had set up on that browser “

    Yeah right.
