  • iPhone Air was almost portless, but concerns about EU regulations prevented it

    hmmmm, strange thought…

The EU needs to back off. I am all for regulation, especially when it comes to consumer protection, but what the truck do they believe is the end game for all their frivolous actions ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I’m glad the EU forced a standard charging port.   I think the only reason Apple didn’t move from Lightning to USB C sooner is so customers wouldn’t get angry like they did with the switch from the original 30 Pin to Lightning.  Had they done so after just 5 years of Lightning every would say it was planned obsolescence.  I’ll go one step further and say they would have embraced USB-C instead of Lightning had it existed at the time.   The reversible connector was brilliant compared to micro USB.   I recently stayed at a place that had an old JBL speaker with 30 pin connector and no Bluetooth!

  • Apple's lowest-selling iPhones still crush rival premium flagships

Well then, if they ONLY sell as well as most other companies offerings, it sounds like it's time to refresh the Mini in the near future.
It won't put Apple out of business, and my 12 mini is getting a little long in the tooth (what ever that means).

I bought a refurbished 13 mini the day after the 16 E-waste was announced.  I wanted to replace my 2nd gen SE, and thought they would have a 4th generation SE.

The phrase “long in the tooth” is believed to originate from horses, or more specifically, a horse’s teeth. How so? Because the older a horse gets, the longer their teeth become. So it is possible to give an approximation for how old a horse is simply by looking at their teeth.

Comparing sales of Apple phones to all other brands running Android doesn’t seem like a meaningful comparison.  Obviously the android market is diluted with countless devices vs a single company selling iOS devices.

  • Apple's rumored Home Hub said to be under employee testing

Agree with most of what is said here, Apple missed the boat in not acquiring Eero IMHO as mesh wifi could have been a fondation in building out the smart home—Homepods, AppleTVs, security cameras, baby monitors, sensors, should all double as mesh wifi nodes.  Apple would have been perfect to compete in the home security market—great opportunities for further build outs of services etc etc.  And a base for more usable robotics, i.e patrolling drones and vacuums.
That would be nice.  Is it too late?  I’m still rocking my 2013 Time Capsule as a wireless AP.   The internal HDD no longer works and it’s in Bridge mode connected to a NAT router.   It’s plenty fast and has good coverage in my 2 story house.   I do wish they’d bring out a new AP though.   Perhaps those have become too commoditized to justify Apple's profit margins.
