Arms race: Apple's waiting for robotics for US iPhone assembly, says Commerce Secretary
Just an observation:
Tim Apple isn’t actually waiting for robotic arms to bring iPhone assembly to the United States. Saying “I need to have the robotic arms.” is a kind of diplomatic tech executive way of saying “Sure, I’ll do it… when pigs fly!!!”
Somehow Lutnick thought Cook was expressing a genuine desire. Cook has no plans at all of bringing iPhone assembly to the United States. Lutnick, you need to learn how to read between the lines. -
iPhone 17 Slim model is barely thick enough for its own buttons
I’m leaning towards the iPhone 17 Air as my next phone. But not for the thinness or anything like that. It’s specifically the C1 modem. For specific international cellular network compatibility travel reasons, the C1 modem is more useful for me than the Qualcomm modem. That’s a very niche reason and not super relevant to most people. But it’s enough for me to lean towards anything with the C1. If the 16e (with its C1) had a few more bells and whistles (MagSafe and the UWB chip)… I already have quite a few MagSafe and AirTag products though, so hopefully the iPhone 17 Air will be what I need (C1, MagSafe, UWB).

Scenario: Doctor’s office. Parent is waiting for an appointment. 4 year old child is bored out of their mind, running around and won’t be quiet.
Parent: “Stop that. Here. Take this.” *hands kid the iPhone*
Child: *quietly plays a game on parent’s iPhone*
Other patients waiting: *sighs of relief*
Not wanting to share access to everything on your device is the exact reason why people want multiple user logins. -
