  • US DOJ will finally sue Apple after years of antitrust investigation

About time.  Apple has been illegally monopolizing app distribution on iDevices for well over a decade now.  It's time for the nonsense to stop.
Either you're the John C. Dvorak of this forum, or you have ties to disgruntled Apple product developers, as per your recent post here, which I refuted here.

But I will agree the sheer and utter "nonsense" being directed at Apple on the legal front does indeed "need to stop."

  • Epic and allies are complaining about Apple's US App Store fees, while they charge about t...

Victor, it is indeed "remotely the same" insofar as the article states correctly: And, Epic also has fees.

    Apple is a platform creator.
Epic is a developer who made a choice to develop on Apple's platform.

Sure that's a difference, but they both make money via fees.

If you are Epic, you will want the "app store concept to die completely."  But if you are a platform creator like Apple, you obviously want to keep your profit earning store alive.

People who like Apple's "morality police" tend to stick with Apple's iOS devices, and those who don't like those so-called police, can enjoy the wild west of Android.  Why in the world would you, in the name of liberty, want to take away the liberty of people to choose Apple's walled garden?  That's right.  You re seeking to take away the very thing that keeps people on iOS, only because you seem to prefer iOS on some level, yet you wish to remove a particular aspect which you dislike -- a thing which other people don't necessarily dislike.

With that said, I do disagree somewhat with the closing sentence of the article which states:

"It is up to legislators to keep Apple from being unfair, but they should also keep companies like Epic in check."

Legislators and the Courts do as much harm as good.  The more "free" a "free market" system is, with less intervention by Legislators and the Courts, the better.

  • Another factory-sealed original iPhone hits the auction block

The stupidity of the wealthy knows no bounds.  It will either be framed in glass, which is hilarious, or it will be opened, only to have its purchaser proclaim: "Great.  Now what?"

A more sensible wealthy person would dump that 100K into AAPL, then quarterly dividends, then put the proceeds to far better use.  A lot of people have bashed Bill Gates, but at least he put his wealth toward making improvements to the world.  That should be a personal choice, of course, not forced through socialistic taxation.  But the wealthy still should consider Bill Gates lead when it comes to pondering their wealth and its use.  They could still live a very pampered life and help society too if they put some thought into it.

But $100K for a box that gets put behind glass or opened and then shelved is ridiculous.
Ditto Bitcoin.  The silly things people ascribe VALUE to is down right insane at times.

  • How to take a full-page screenshot on iPhone

People are complaining that a full page screenshot cannot be taken in the AppleInsider app.  I agree that is a silly limitation.  To understand why it is silly, you must ask why we even need a dedicated app for a website in the first place?  Why use an app when you can use Safari?

The reason typically is because you could THEORETICALLY get MORE FUNCTIONALITY by using a dedicated app.  But if that's true, why then doesn't the app offer that expanded (more than Safari) functionality by way of giving us a FULL PAGE SCREENSHOT BUTTON? Right now, Safari is offering more functionality than the AppleInsider app, raising the question as to why that app even exists.

I personally use Safari and not the AppleInsider app, so I never noticed the feature limitation before.
