    Perhaps because it may not move the needle on iPhone demand all that much, as a lot of people don't (yet) think that the current menu of AI offerings goes much beyond being on a scale of laughable (Gemini)-to-mediocre (ChatGPT/MetaAI/Anthropic)?

    For example, to the extent that it's useful, the OpenAI app works perfectly fine for me on my iPhone 14 Pro Max. Normally, I upgrade every two years, but unless the iPhone 16 offers something more radical than typically touted attributes like more speed, smaller bevel size, longer battery, better camera, is a wee bit thinner etc., I may skip even the 16. At this point, the phones (and iPads) are so good that even an Apple-crazy customer like myself is starting to go 'meh' with the incremenaility of hardware improvements.

    “Online security” in the US is such an oxymoron. 

    We laugh —I do too — at the EU when it comes to tech, but I do wonder, how come we never hear about such regular breaches (on a similar scale) over there?

    Pathetic. What's Apple thinking, licensing that utterly bizarre POS piece of technology?

    The only headline should be: "Fresh on the heels of admitting abject failure with, and abandoning, their AV project, Apple adds AI to the list."

    Tim Cook's Apple seems to have run out of ideas and talent. Hurts to say that, as a 40-year user of the company's products, and 20-year shareholder. The only competitive advantage that Apple has now seems to be that its competitors are worse.

    This outcome was patently obvious to many from Day 1. 

    At this point, Tesla has won this contest hands-down. By the time Apple finally got there -- even if they could -- there would be no way for it to catch up to a company like Tesla.

    Apple made the smart decision here, to not fall into the sunk cost fallacy and continue to throw good money after bad. That said, it's most definitely a huge pie on Cook's face.
